  • Patent number: 5144713
Abstract: The invention relates to a hand-operated wiping instrument for floors. The wiping instrument comprises a frame 1 with support and guide rollers 5, arranged at the front in the direction of movement F, and a wiping strip 7 arranged after said support and guide rollers in the direction of movement. The frame 1 supports a guide pole 3 with a handle 4 which is located in a plane A perpendicular to the direction of movement F, the distance a of which plane from the wiping strip 7 is substantially smaller than the distance b of the wiping strip 7 from the support and guide element 5. A wiping instrument of this type can be easily handled with a good wiping effect because the wiping strip is dragged and not pushed.

  • Patent number: 5083338
Abstract: The invention relates to a cleaning apparatus for surfaces, more particularly window panes. It mainly comprises a handle 1 and a two-part holder 4 for rod-shaped or strip-shaped cleaning elements 8 which is releasably attached to the handle 1. The releasable connection comprises: a forwardly open inner sleeve 2 which is formed on the handle 1 and has diametrically opposite axial slots 11, 12; an outer sleeve 3, mounted rotatably but axially non-displaceably on the inner sleeve 2; and a pin 5, 6 which is inserted in the inner sleeve 2 and is divided into two in the axial direction. The outer sleeve 3 has an internal screwthreading 16, 17 recessed by axial grooves 18, 19 at two diametrically opposite places. By the rotation of the outer sleeve 3 in relation to the inner sleeve 2, the grooves 18, 19 can be brought into alignment with the slots 11, 12.

  • Patent number: 5076478
Abstract: A water holding device for a window washer as a first water tank for the reception of a window washing tool, and has a second water tank in communication with the first water tank at its lower end for the relief of pressure caused in the first water tank by rapid insertion of a working tool into the first water tank, the water holding device being of progressively decreasing cross-section in a downwards direction in order to minimize the volume of water required in the first water tank, and thus minimize the weight to be carried by the user.

  • Patent number: 4922577
Abstract: An extensible handle bar for tools has on its outer tube a sleeve-shaped body made of thermoplastic material and provided with an external thread. The body has an extension provided with longitudinally extending slots and an external taper. A sleeve-shaped threaded nut is guided on the external thread of the body and has an internal taper which cooperates with the external taper of the extension. For improving the clamping of the inner tube of the handle bar in the sleeve-shaped body, the angle of inclination of the internal taper of the sleeve-shaped threaded nut is smaller than the angle of inclination of the external taper of the extension of the body provided with an external thread.

  • Patent number: 4919019
Abstract: A device for removing and installing single-pin type fluorescent tubes has a cradle in which a fluorescent tube is frictionally held, and a pusher mechanism that can be extended by rotation of a pole on which the cradle is supported.

  • Patent number: 4858267
Abstract: An apparatus for wet cleaning in particular window panes includes an elongated carrier for a removable, fur-like cleaning body surrounding said carrier and a shaft-like handle being mounted at said carrier rectangularly thereto. The cleaning body has an outer cover with a longitudinal slot by means of which it can be applied to the carrier. This apparatus is superior as compared with the known apparatuses in that a holder is secured to the front end of the handle which has at each of its ends short threaded pins, two elongated arms being screwed onto the threaded pins which forms, together with the holder, the carrier for the cleaning body which is open at both ends. The longitudinal slot in the outer cover of the cleaning body is associated with the holder and comprises a length corresponding to that of the holder together with a threaded pin.

  • Patent number: 4847938
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus, particularly for cleaning window panes includes a shaft-like hollow handle and a replaceable approximately strip-shaped cleaning tool mounted between two clamping jaws which are adjustable relative to one another. One of the clamping jaws has an extension by with which it is connected to the handle by means of a hinged bolt. This cleaning apparatus is superior as compared with usual apparatuses in that the extension of the one clamping jaw is pivotably connected to an elongation of the handle and comprises at its broad side facing away from the elongation an arcuately extending, relatively coarse toothing which is in cooperation in a manner known per se with a spring-loaded stop lever guided in the handle and formed as a slide.

  • Patent number: 4791835
Abstract: A device for installing or removing fluorescent tubes from a lighting fixture has a cradle with drive rollers and has spring biased arms which move the drive rollers into frictional engagement with a fluorescent tube, subsequent to which the drive rollers can be rotated to rotate the fluorescent tube by rotating a pole carrying the device.

  • Patent number: 4602532
Abstract: To enable wood screws provided with a suspension hook having a shank, and also magnetic holders having a shank, to be applied to and released from comparatively high structural parts by an operator standing on the floor or ground below, an apparatus is provided which comprises a carrier arm including two legs by means of one of which it is affixed in a direct or indirect manner to one end of a hollow cylindrical body enabling the apparatus to be inserted, for example, into a handle bar which can be extended and retracted telescopically and to be secured therein, the other leg of the carrier arm having a bifurcated portion provided for the reception therein of the shank of a wood screw or magnetic holder and fixing it in the proper position for applying or releasing the wood screw or magnetic holder.

  • Patent number: 4461057
Abstract: An extensible handle bar for cleaning and painting tools and the like comprises inner and outer tubes in slidable telescoping relationship, the outer tube having a pair of apertures therein containing inserts. A helically threaded nut extends over the exterior surface of the outer tube and the inserts. The outer surface of each of the inserts includes projecting thread segments which mate with the internal threads of the nut. The internal threads of the nut and the thread segments of the insert each have a conical configuration. Upon rotation of the nut in one direction on the outer tube, the inserts are depressed radially such that the inner surfaces of the inserts press against the outer surface of the inner tube to axially lock the inner and outer tubes together.

  • Patent number: 4218085
Abstract: A device provided with a stick for screwing in and out electrical lamps located at an elevated position from a floor comprises a plurality of suction cups arranged circularly at one end of the stick. The suction cups are arranged to be urged against the glass body of a lamp by means of the stick and in doing so by an evacuation of a portion of the air in the suction cups adhering to the glass body of the lamp so firmly that the lamp is able to be screwed in or out. The suction cups are arranged in the interior of an annular head rigidly connected to the stick. An annular body is guided adjustable relative to the lamp on the annular head.
