  • Patent number: 12218775
Abstract: An Advanced Physical Layer (APL) adapter for enabling functional interconnection of a 2-wire APL spur to at least one industrial process legacy field device includes a first pair of terminals, APL physical layer (PHY) circuitry, a second pair of terminals and connectivity circuitry. The first pair of terminals is configured for connection to the 2-wire APL spur. The APL PHY circuitry is capacitively coupled to the first pair of terminals. The connectivity circuitry is configured to communicate with a legacy field device connected to the second pair of terminals in accordance with a legacy communication protocol and control the APL PHY circuitry to communicate through the first pair of terminals in accordance with an Ethernet protocol.

  • Patent number: 5616495
Abstract: Novel Bacillus thuringiensis isolates with hymenopteran activity are described. Also described are toxins having the advantageous hymenopteran activity. This invention further concerns genes or gene fragments which have been cloned from the novel Bacillus thuringiensis isolates which have formicidal activity. These genes or gene fragments can be used to transform suitable hosts for controlling ants.

  • Patent number: 5561555
Abstract: An apparatus and method for aligning the optical elements of a microscope are disclosed wherein a fixture is provided for locating and mounting a plurality of mirrors for reflecting an object image along an optical path to an adjacent eyepiece connected to the fixture by an eyepiece holder. The eyepiece holder includes an outer sleeve attachable to the fixture, an inner sleeve transversely movable within the outer sleeve for slidably receiving the eyepiece, and positioning means comprising a plurality of angularly spaced screws extending through the outer sleeve for engaging the inner sleeve, whereby the eyepiece may be aligned on the optical path by selectively adjusting the screws.

  • Patent number: 5521756
Abstract: Microscopes having plastic components such as knobs, covers and eyepiece rings are rendered antistatic by using static charge dissipating plastic materials instead of conventional plastics. Such antistatic microscopes are especially useful in the manufacture and inspection of semi-conductors which are easily damaged by exposure to static charges.

  • Patent number: 5260058
Abstract: The subject invention concerns novel microbes and genes encoding novel toxin proteins with activity against insect pests of the order Hymenoptera. Pests in the order Hymenoptera are common house pests, and they create problems in hospitals, the food industry and in agriculture. The novel Bacillus thuringiensis microbes of the invention are referred to as B.t. PS140E2 and B.t. PS86Q3. The spores or crystals of these microbes, or mutants thereof, are useful to control hymenopteran pests in various environments. The genes of the invention can be used to transform various hosts wherein the novel toxic proteins can be expressed.

  • Patent number: 3948135
Abstract: A machine tool comprising a frame, a plunger mounted on the frame for carrying a work engaging tool, a way in said plunger for receiving a reciprocating ram, a punch block, a linkage for selectively inserting said punch block between the ram and the plunger so as to cause the ram to drive said plunger toward a work support, a bolt mechanism carried by said ram for selective operative engagement with said plunger to pull said plunger away from said work support only after said plunger has been driven toward said work support by said ram, camming surfaces on said plunger and said bolt for selectively disengaging said bolt from said plunger upon subsequent movement of said ram toward the work support, and a single stroke mechanism in said linkage to automatically withdraw said punch block after the driving of the plunger toward the work support whereby subsequent continued reciprocation of said ram will not drive said plunger unless said linkage is again actuated.
