  • Publication number: 20170167096
Abstract: The present invention relates to collapsible hoses and inflatable structures such as pneumatic actuators for water control gates that are manufactured on and incorporate into their structure a flexible internal mandrel with rounded edges. One face of the mandrel and all of its rounded edges separate from the inflatable membrane during pressurization, while the remaining face of the flexible mandrel remains bonded to the remaining face of the inflatable envelope. Sharp internal edges (in the deflated condition) and their associated stress concentrations (in the inflated condition) are thus eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20160356012
Abstract: The invention relates to a friction reduced and ice resistant water control gate abutment plates that permit, without damage to the concrete, large relative thermal movement between the abutment plate assembly and the concrete abutment or pier to which the assembly is attached. Features that provide ease of maintenance, tight sealing and debris damage resistance are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160084218
Abstract: Hydromotive machines, e.g. hydroturbines and pumps with integral low head loss shut off valves are described. Arrays of such hydroturbines facilitate power generation within the limited space available at pre-existing gated water control structures. An adjustable pitch hydroturbine runner particularly suited for use with the integral loss shut-off valve provides higher power output and higher specific speed than prior art hydroturbines at low head hydroelectric projects. Arrays of pumps in accordance with the present invention provide high discharge capacity in a limited space, with each individual pump within the array having an integral low head loss valve for shut off and backflow prevention.

  • Publication number: 20050162389
Abstract: The invention relates to improved multi-axis joysticks and associated multi-axis optical displacement measurement means. The displacement measuring means may include one or more light emitters and one or more light detectors, preferably mounted in a planar hexagonal array. The relative position of an adjacent movable reflector assembly can be measured in six degrees of freedom by variations in detected light amplitude. Various ergonomic configurations of six axis joystick embodiments which may be facilitated by the compact design of the transducer means are disclosed. Means for dynamically adjusting coordinate transformations for construction machinery control are also disclosed.
