  • Patent number: 9615350
Abstract: Systems, device and techniques are disclosed for determining whether a mobile device is in vehicle mode. A notification may be received while the mobile device is in vehicle mode and the notification may be determined to be important or unimportant. If the notification is determined to be important, then the notification may be provided to the user via an output mode (e.g., display or speaker). If the notification is determined to be unimportant, then the notification may not be provided to the user via the display until the mobile device is no longer in vehicle mode.

  • Publication number: 20160152240
Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for dynamic driver attention and event notification management based on the current contextual information about a vehicle, driver attention, and a distraction weight of a notification of an event. A method may include receiving a first contextual information about a motorized vehicle. An indication of the occurrence of a first event may be received. It may be determined that the first event has a first event notification weight that satisfies a first notification threshold based on the first contextual information. As a result, a first notification of the first event may be provided to a user of the motorized vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20150370461
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for management of media player functionality. A template user interface including slots, each slot including definition for a control, may be received. The definition may include a position within a user interface and a size for the control. The control may be associated with a feature for media applications. A list including a feature for a first media application may be received. The feature for the first media application may use one of the slots of the template user interface. A translated interface for the first media application may be generated by replacing one the controls associated with the slots with a control for the feature of the first media application, where the control for the feature of the first media application uses the position in the definition associated with the slot for the replace control. The translated interface may be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20150373138
Abstract: Systems, device and techniques are disclosed for modifying a cache value based on an upcoming reduction in connection. A determination be made that a user device is in a travel mode and intended travel data may be received accordingly. Data throughput information corresponding to the intended travel data may be received. A determination that there is an upcoming reduction in connection may be made based on the data throughput information. A cache value (e.g., amount of data received, provided, or cached) may be modified based on the upcoming reduction in connection.

  • Patent number: 8537943
Abstract: A method for receiving signals in a receiver having a plurality of receive elements may include a transmitted signal in a plurality of receive elements to form a plurality of receive element signals, generating a plurality of uncorrelated chipping sequences, and encoding each the plurality of receive element signals with a different one of the chipping sequences to form a plurality of encoded signals, and combining the plurality of encoded signals into a combined signal. The plurality of encoded signals may include a first encoded signal, a second encoded signal, and a third encoded signal. Combining may include combining the first encoded signal with the second encoded signal to generate a first combined signal, and combining the first combined signal with information indicative of the third encoded signal to generate a second combined signal.

  • Publication number: 20090063148
Abstract: An example embodiment of the invention may include a system, a method and/or a computer program product for enabling calibrating of word spots resulting from a spoken query, including, e.g., but not limited to, presenting a plurality of word spots to a user, each of the plurality of word spots having a confidence level; determining by the user whether at least one of the plurality of word spots is a hit or a false positive by determining whether the at least one of the plurality of word spots matches at least one word In the spoken query; receiving a maximum acceptable percentage of false positives from the user; and determining an acceptable confidence threshold value for the spoken query by locating the smallest confidence level in the plurality of word spots below which the percentage of word spots in the plurality of word spots that are false positives exceeds the maximum acceptable percentage of false positives.

  • Patent number: 7228108
Abstract: An RF tag 25 is incorporated in a mouse 20, and an RF tag reader 15 is mounted on the main body side of a computer 10. When using the mouse 20 to a specified computer 10, a user moves the mouse close to the reader 15 to read identification information (ID) of the mouse 20, which is included in the RF tag 25. On the main body side of the computer 10, the mouse 20 is designated in accordance with the read ID and communication with the mouse 20 is set. There may be a case where a plurality of computers and peripheral equipment intermingle, but, by making joint use of the ID reader 15 in a short-range, a corresponding relationship between the main body of the computer 10 and the wireless equipment 20 is made clear.

  • Publication number: 20070006667
Abstract: An attachment for a fishing rod to respond to tension on the fishing line. In one mode it responds to a lateral pull on the rod tip. In another mode it responds to an axial pull on the line. It enables accurate adjustment of the drag, and can indicate when the tension on the line is in a safe or risky range relative to the rated stress of the line.

  • Publication number: 20050105638
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a data symbol is described. In one embodiment, the data symbol is modulated to produce a modulated data symbol. The modulated data symbol is encoded to generate an embedded offset in the modulated data symbol. The modulated data symbol is then transmitted with the embedded offset. In another embodiment, a modulated signal having an embedded offset is received. A symbol estimate is derived from the modulated signal. The symbol estimate is then applied to demodulate the modulated signal.
