  • Patent number: 4454089
Abstract: A process for producing pellets of a heat fusible thermosettable molding composition from a substantially hot melt material of a heat fusible thermosettable molding composition which comprises supplying said melt material between a calendering roll peripherally formed with recesses and another rigid surface which forms said molten material into pellets. Also, the instant invention is directed to the apparatus by which these pellets are produced.

  • Patent number: 4306057
Abstract: Novel thermoplastic molding compositions are disclosed which comprise a polycarbonate molding powder in admixture with a minor amount of a volatile matter entraining agent selected from the group consisting essentially of monochlorobenzene, a polyhydric material and solutions of a polyhydric material in water. A method of preparing a polycarbonate molding composition containing reduced amounts of volatile impurities is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4209912
Abstract: A novel process for the drying of resinous materials is disclosed which comprises superheating a solution of the resinous material and spraying the superheated solution through one or more venturi shaped nozzles at high pressure in order to provide resultant material in the form of discrete particles having a lowered moisture content. A novel design for a venturi nozzle which may be advantageously employed in carrying out the drying process of the present invention is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4192954
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the production of 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) propane, herein referred to as bisphenol-A, from by-products remaining after purification distillation of bisphenol-A produced from a condensation reaction of phenol and acetone. The process comprises mixing the by-products with phenol and adding anhydrous hydrogen chloride under superatmospheric pressure to the resulting mixture to isomerize those by-products isomerizable to bisphenol-A for subsequent recovery.
