  • Patent number: 5870112
Abstract: A method and apparatus of printing with a liquid ink printhead ejecting ink in swaths on a recording medium to form an image including a plurality of dots deposited at pixel locations of a scanline. The printer deposits a plurality of dots at adjacent pixel locations on the scan line during non-consecutive swaths of the printhead to form the image. Dot interaction between dots is minimized so that no two dots are deposited adjacent to each other in consecutive depositions of the dots of consecutive swaths of the printhead. Reduction of ink bleeding, printhead signatures such as banding, and other defects caused by clogged nozzles of the printhead are reduced.

  • Patent number: 5301037
Abstract: A method for converting a set of input image pixels having a first resolution and being represented by a set of input image signals to a set of output image pixels having a second resolution and being represented by a set of output image signals. The method is adapted for use in an electroreprographic machine having a memory for storing images and an image output terminal for printing the images.

  • Patent number: 5270836
Abstract: A method for improving the quality of bitmap image includes repeated iterations of doubling the resolution of an image and smoothing the doubled image. The doubling and smoothing steps are repeated until the intermediate image has a resolution which is greater than a desired resolution of an output image. After generating such an intermediate resolution image, the intermediate resolution image has its resolution reduced to the desired resolution by area mapping to generate a pseudo-gray scale image. The pseudo-gray image is then further processed to further improve the image quality, and then is converted to a true gray scale image or a binary image having the desired resolution.

  • Patent number: 5017644
Abstract: Disclosed is an ink jet ink composition comprising a liquid vehicle such as water or ethanol, a dye, and a linear N-hydroxyl substituted polyethyleneimine polymer. In a preferred embodiment, the linear N-hydroxyl substituted polyethyleneimine polymer is selected from the group consisting of linear poly(N-hydroxyethylethyleneimine), linear poly(N-hydroxypropylethyleneimine), and linear poly(N-hydroxymethylethyleneimine). Also disclosed is a process for generating images with the disclosed inks in ink jet printing processes, including continuous stream ink jet printing processes. Further, a process for preparing the linear N-hydroxyl substituted polyethyleneimine polymers included in the inks of the present invention is also disclosed.
