  • Patent number: 4970944
Abstract: An improved fluid supplying and exhausting arrangement for fluid-powered rotary motion actuating devices of the dual piston rack-and-pinion type. A first conduit arrangement includes a central opening through an axial end wall of the actuator housing and a fluid transfer tube fitted in such opening and extending axially through the adjacent piston into the intermediate fluid chamber between the two pistons for delivering fluid and exhausting fluid from the intermediate chamber, with the adjacent piston being slidable on the transfer tube in sealing contact therewith. A second conduit arrangement includes another axial opening in the end wall into the adjacent outward chamber of the housing and another transfer tube fixed to and extending axially through one piston and extending axially through the other piston to open at the opposite ends of the tube into the two outward fluid chambers of the device, with the other piston being in axially slidably sealing contact with the second tube.

  • Patent number: 4887634
Abstract: Apparatus for close positive coupling of an actuator to a ball valve utilizes a bracket plate assembly fixing the valve and actuator bodies together with the bracket plate in fitted engagement with the valve body annularly about its valve stem gland screw to apply reactive loads generated by valve actuation forces to the valve body rather than the valve stem, whereby essentially only torsional actuation forces are applied to the valve stem. The bracket plate assembly is affixed to the valve and actuator bodies, respectively, at opposite axial sides of the gland screw drive periphery for easy tightening access thereto without disassembly of the bracket assembly.

  • Patent number: 4719939
Abstract: Apparatus for close positive coupling of an actuator to a ball valve utilizes a bracket plate assembly fixing the valve and actuator bodies together and supporting the hexagonal alignment bushing in fitted engagement with the valve stem gland screw to apply reactive loads generated by valve actuation forces to the gland screw rather than the valve stem, whereby essentially only torsional actuation forces are applied to the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 4408577
Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus for a two cylinder rotary internal combustion engine comprising a stationary cylinder block with a pair of inwardly facing horizontally opposed pistons operating within. Each piston is maintained in fixed relationship to the other by means of a common connecting rod. A cam roller assembly is included at each outer extremity of the opposed pistons for transmitting reciprocating motion to an eccentric cam raceway provided within an outer rotating frame assembly which is rotably mounted with respect to the stationary cylinder block. An output drive shaft is connected to the rotating frame. Tubular cylindrical intake and exhaust valves communicate with each cylinder, with a geneva drive mechanism provided for imparting stepwise counter-rotational motion to said valves for admitting combustible mixture and exhausting combustion gasses at proper intervals.

  • Patent number: 4193019
Abstract: A digital control device wherein both an input drive, which, in response to signal pulses, produces a specific increment rotation of an output drive, and a feedback drive, which is driven in proportion to the incremental rotation so produced, are connected to drive a differential gear device, the output of which drives a pair of multi-stage, intermittent drive counting devices, one in a forward direction, the other in reverse. Movement of the last stages of such devices are conditioned to activate said output drive and they are set in null positions wherein a very few advancing increments of movement of the first stage will generate incremental movement of all subsequent stages. When the input drive starts, the last stage of only the advancing counter will advance and activate the output drive in a direction to oppose the input. Return of the counters to null positions will deactivate the output drive.

  • Patent number: 4189950
Abstract: A manual override apparatus for use with normally, automatically, powered driving assemblies such as valve actuators, the override apparatus having a body with a bore therethrough, a housing secured to the body and having an axial bore which registers with the bore in the body, a rotatable split drive nut mounted in the housing, a drive screw extending into the registering bores in the body and the housing and mounted for axial movement therein, a camming system for selectively engaging and disengaging the drive nut with the drive screw whereby engagement of the drive screw with the drive nut and rotation of the drive nut causes axial movement of the drive screw, and a biasing assembly operatively connected to the split drive nut which exerts a biasing engagement force on the drive nut when a given magnitude of resistance to engagement is encountered.

  • Patent number: 4079746
Abstract: A wafer valve assembly for securing between two flange fittings, each of the flange fittings having a flow passageway therethrough and comprising an annular flange extending radially from the flow passageway. The valve assembly comprises a valve body having a flowway therethrough and a valve element mounted in the flowway for movement between a first position closing the flowway and a second position opening the flowway. Adapter means are secured to the valve body, and alignment means cooperate between the adapter means and the flanges to place the flow passageways and the flowway in substantial register.

  • Patent number: 4065979
Abstract: A stop assembly for limiting relative rotation comprising inner and outer coaxial members relatively rotatable but longitudinally fixed with respect to each other. The outer member at least partially surrounds the inner member and is at least partially radially spaced therefrom so that an elongate annular space is formed between the members. A first stop surface is provided at one end of the annular space facing axially inwardly. A stop nut is disposed in the annular space coaxial therewith. The nut has a radial split therethrough. The nut is rotatable and longitudinally movable with respect to one of the members and longitudinally movable but not rotatable with respect to the other member. The nut further includes a second stop surface at one end opposed to the first stop surface.
