  • Patent number: 4499525
Abstract: A power supply circuit for generating a power pulse train for an incandescent bulb in a flashlight which results in a relatively constant illumination output from the flashlight despite the decline in output voltage from a battery power supply therefor during discharge. The power supply circuit operates to compensate for the lower output voltage from the battery power supply by increasing the duty cycle of the pulse train to provide wider pulse widths therein, and eventually the wider pulse widths merge into a DC power supply near the end of the useful service life of the battery power supply.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 1981
Date of Patent: February 12, 1985
    Assignee: Duracell Inc.
    Inventor: Henry R. Mallory
  • Patent number: 4325106
Abstract: A battery holder comprising a drawer having a plurality of compartments, each sized to accommodate a single battery, each compartment being polarized so that a battery can be placed therein only in a predetermined position, means for electrically interconnecting the batteries, and means for connecting a user circuit to the battery holder. The battery holder can further comprise means for retaining the battery within the compartment and a circuit switch to protect the user circuit from circuit runaway.

Inventors: William Bartunek, Gordon E. Kaye, Henry R. Mallory
  • Patent number: 4296461
Abstract: A battery package having a casing which contains at least one electrochemical cell electrically connected to a DC to DC converter. A pair of electrical connections are located on the casing to electrically connect the battery package to a load. The converter conducts and the cell discharges only when a load is present across the electrical connection.
