  • Patent number: 5382948
Abstract: A vehicular security system includes an electronic supervisory control unit which communicates with a remote signalling unit to provide both conventional alarm system functions typically associated with securing an unoccupied vehicle as well as anti-carjacking functions. The anti-carjacking functions may be remotely initiated by the vehicle operator who has been forcibly removed from the vehicle or passively initiated and include locking the vehicle doors, closing the vehicle windows, and thereafter disabling the engine to confine a criminal carjacking perpetrator within the vehicle to wait apprehension by law enforcement authorities.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 3, 1993
Date of Patent: January 17, 1995
    Inventor: Henry Richmond
  • Patent number: 5339848
Abstract: A sunshade for providing protection from the sun has an upright support member and a sunshield pivotally mounted to the support member for movement between two angular positions. The sunshield is incrementally moved by a motor between the two angular positions to dispose the sunshield in desired position relative to the position of the sun.

Date of Patent: August 23, 1994
    Inventor: Henry Richmond
  • Patent number: 4360696
Abstract: A process is disclosed whereby acrylonitrile and diacetone alcohol are reacted in at least 93% sulfuric acid to form a novel intermediate reaction product which is recovered as a crystalline solid, washed with an organic solvent to remove colored oily impurities along with sulfuric acid, and hydrolyzed to produce diacetone acrylamide, a reactive monomer useful for preparing polymeric components of photographic films and adhesives. The intermediate reaction product is identified as 5,6-dihydro-6-hydroxy-4,4,6-trimethyl-2-vinyl-1,3(4H)-oxazine sulfate (1:1).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 2, 1980
Date of Patent: November 23, 1982
    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company

  • Patent number: 3998863
Abstract: Compounds of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN R is a branched chain alkyl group containing three to about twelve carbon atoms; Y is the residue of the carboxylic acid Y(COOH)n, provided that when Y is alkyl and n is one, Y contains more than ten carbon atoms; and n is one to four. These compounds are useful as antioxidants in organic substrates, such as polyolefines, rubber, etc.

    Assignee: American Cyanamid Company
    Inventors: John Song, Henry Richmond
  • Patent number: 3954707
Abstract: Bis(alkylsulfonyl)vinylanilines of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein R is alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl of 5 or 6 carbon atoms and R' is alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy, hydrogen, or ##EQU1## are useful as ultraviolet light absorbers or light stabilizers for polymers.
