Publication number: 20170161343Abstract: Deriving information from data is essential to making use of the data prevalent in most aspects of our lives. Currently, we have three standard options in deriving information from the data: average, median, and standard deviation. Each comes with its own flaws, however. Taking an average over simplifies the data. For example, two sets of greatly different data can produce same result: (1, 3, 26)=10 and (10, 10, 10)=10. Medians can be used to solve some problems with taking averages, but you waste data in the process by simply excluding it from analysis. Standard Deviations give you some degree of accounting for deviation in the set, but it can only calculate a range in which the true result lies. Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide a Triangulated Data Score (TDS). TDS gives you beyond a simple average, includes more data than a median, and eliminates guess works of a range.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2016Publication date: June 8, 2017Inventors: George Andrew Hoeppner, Henry Stanley Spain

Patent number: 7203790Abstract: Caches are associated with processors, such multiple caches may be associated with multiple processors. This association may be different for different main memory address ranges. The techniques of the invention are flexible, as a system designer can choose how the caches are associated with processors and main memory banks, and the association between caches, processors, and main memory banks may be changed while the multiprocessor system is operating. Cache coherence may or may not be maintained. An effective address in an illustrative embodiment comprises an interest group and an associated address. The interest group is an index into a cache vector table and an entry into the cache vector table and the associated address is used to select one of the caches. This selection can be pseudo-random. Alternatively, in some applications, the cache vector table may be eliminated, with the interest group directly encoding the subset of caches to use.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2005Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Monty Montague Denneau, Peter Heiner Hochschild, Henry Stanley Warren, Jr.

Patent number: 6384833Abstract: The geometric processing of an ordered sequence of graphics commands is distributed over a set of processors by the following steps. The sequence of graphics commands is partitioned into an ordered set of N subsequences S0 . . . SN−1, and an ordered set of N state vectors V0 . . . VN−1 is associated with said ordered set of subsequences S0 . . . SN−1. A first phase of processing is performed on the set of processors whereby, for each given subsequence Sj in the set of subsequences S0 . . . SN−2, state vector Vj+1 is updated to represent state as if the graphics commands in subsequence Sj had been executed in sequential order. A second phase of the processing is performed whereby the components of each given state vector Vk in the set of state vectors V1 . . . VN−1 generated in the first phase is merged with corresponding components in the preceding state vectors V0 . . .Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1999Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Monty Montague Denneau, Peter Heiner Hochschild, Henry Stanley Warren, Jr.

Patent number: 5749269Abstract: A viscous torsional vibration damper having an annular chamber surrounding a central hub and first and second annular inertia masses located within the annular chamber. The innermost first inertia mass is closely coupled with an inner surface of the working chamber, and has a Teflon bearing arranged between the first inertia mass and the inner surface. The second annular inertia mass is closely mechanically coupled with the first inertia mass by lateral damping units, such as by elastomeric O-rings, such that the combination of the first and second inertia masses and the damping units are substantially freely rotatable within the working chamber due to the Teflon bearing but are arranged to absorb lateral vibrations by the lateral dampers. A viscous fluid is disposed within the working chamber surrounding the inertia masses.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1996Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Vibratech, Inc.Inventors: John George Szymanski, Robert Henry Stanley, Jr., Fredrick Richard Roland

Patent number: 5371133Abstract: This is a method for the preparation of polyurethane/acrylic-or-vinyl latexes for use in waterborne adhesives or coatings in which the urethane polymer component has no urea linkages. A fully reacted emulsifiable polyurethane is prepared in an acrylic or vinyl monomer, which acts as the solvent or diluent for the polyurethane. The monomer and polyurethane are then coemulsified, free radical initiators are added, and a regular acrylic or vinyl addition polymerization is carried out.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1994Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: National Starch and Chemical Investment Holding CorporationInventor: Henry Stanley
