  • Publication number: 20150375169
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method and apparatus to reduce emissions of target emission gasses such as sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and carbon oxides from combustion exhaust such as marine engine exhaust by gas membrane separation and liquid carrier chemical absorption. The membrane separation system consists of an absorption system containing semi-permeable hollow fiber membranes through which is circulated a liquid absorbent. Exhaust gases contact the exterior surface of the membranes and the target gasses selectively permeate the membrane wall and are absorbed by the liquid carrier(s) within the bore and thereby are removed from the exhaust stream.

  • Publication number: 20060070290
Abstract: A hook setting device is provided for setting a hook on a fishing line of a fishing rod. A rod holder supports the fishing rod and is movable relative to a base between an unset position and a set position is which the holder is biased to the unset position. A catch mechanism retains the holder in the set position while a sensing mechanism engages the fishing line for determining when a fish bit occurs. A link mechanism selectively couples the sensing mechanism to the catch mechanism so that sensitivity of the sensing mechanism can be adjusted in a safe manner without accidental release of the catch mechanism when the linking mechanism coupled therebetween is disengaged.

  • Patent number: 6447045
Abstract: A tonneau cover assembly for a pick-up truck includes a cover that is manufactured by sandwiching a rectangular metal frame between an inner panel and an outer panel. The metal frame provides stability to the cover assembly as well as providing attachment points for the outer components of the tonneau cover assembly. The cover is pivotally attached to a pair of side rails using a four-bar linkage hinge, the four-bar linkage hinge causes the cover to move up from the pick-up box and away from the pick-up cab when the cover is opened. This up and away movement allows the cover to be positioned closer to the cab without causing interference between the cab and the cover when it pivots to its open position.

  • Patent number: 4187759
Abstract: A separation nut system having bolt ejecting separation nut assemblies coned with bolt catcher assemblies. At least two separation nut assemblies with their respective bolt catcher assemblies are connected by a manifold tube so that, should the squib initiator of one separation nut assembly fail, the manifold tube will transfer and redistribute the gas generated from one squib to both separation nut assemblies to provide performance redundancy. Also, each separation nut assembly is capable of being tested for performance integrity prior to actual usage without the need for disassembly and subsequent reassembly and inspection after each use.

  • Patent number: 4181062
Abstract: A release assembly using separation nuts and thrusters for ejecting a body ith spin from a vehicle. The separation nuts are manifolded together in pairs so that failure of one squib of a pair will not affect actuation of the separation nuts, the separation nuts connecting the body to the vehicle. A pair of thrusters is manifolded together so that a single gas cartridge actuates both, the thrusters being situated to impart radial and axial components of velocity to the body upon separation to eject the body with spin from the vehicle. An electrical command energizes the squibs and gas cartridge simultaneously to actuate the separation nuts and thrusters.

  • Patent number: 4015507
Abstract: A system to impart a desired combination of linear and rotational momentum o a projectile. A pair of thrusters are designed to engage a projectile at a fixed angle to impart the desired combination of forces when activated. A manifold tube commutes between the thrusters and a slow release cartridge. Upon ignition of the cartridge, gases enter the manifold tube to cause simultaneous thruster action, avoiding tipoff and other problems associated with the introduction of undesired force components.
