Abstract: Disclosed is a hollow, elongated heap leaching device for use in above-ground leaching of metal bearing ores. The device has an annular cross-section, an inlet opening near its upper end, a restriction or closure at or near its lower end and narrow slits in its walls above the restriction or closure. The cross-sectional area at its lower end must be sufficiently large to allow it to unsupportedly rest vertically on a leach pad or layer of ore while ore is piled against it.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for above-ground leaching of metal bearing ores comprising (a) providing an ore body to be leached having positioned therein void-creating members, said members being positioned substantially vertical or at an angle to the horizontal plane in order that they are capable of being pulled out of said ore body in a substantially upward direction; (b) partially performing the leaching; (c) removing said members by pulling out in a substantially upward direction, thereby creating internal voids and causing shifting of ore in said ore body; and (d) completing the leaching.
Abstract: An improved leaching method for metal bearing ores, wherein removable, void-forming members are placed near the bottom of the ore body and removed during the leaching process, causing partial internal collapse and shifting of the ore, thus exposing additional ore surfaces to the effect of the leaching solution.
Abstract: Articles of manufacture are disclosed for the controlled delivery of pest controlling substances. Methods for producing such articles and utilizing them in pest control programs are also described. Laminated articles are provided which comprise one or more layers containing active pest control and pest attractant substances and which allow the controlled release of the pest controlling substance from within the laminate to the surface of the laminate so as to maximize efficiency against target species in the surrounding environment. The laminated structure also permits prolonged, controlled release of pest controlling substances and properly timed combinations of such substances that might otherwise be prematurely dissipated, decomposed or inefficiently applied. Various combinations of polymeric materials and active agents and a number of different laminated structures are utilized to optimize efficient use of the pest controlling substance against a variety of target species.
Abstract: An improved electric circuit and indicator system for a court game, such as tennis, using conductive elements on both the ball and outside the court playing area to activate an indicator when the ball drops outside the playing area; wherein said system includes means for deactivating said indicator when the ball contacts one of the playing lines to avoid erroneous indication caused by a skidding ball.
