  • Patent number: 5977649
Abstract: A system for collecting and channeling wind energy includes funnel-shaped wind collectors rotatably attached to elevated platforms for collecting wind streams at higher initial velocities. A fantail assembly rotates the inlet end of the funnel into the face of the wind. The funnel is slidably connected to a railing atop the platform to maintain the inlet of the funnel at a desired relationship with the wind stream as well as to preclude separation of the funnel from the platform. Wind entering the inlet of the funnel-shaped collector flows toward a reduced outlet end of the collector resulting in an increased velocity. The collected air is channeled through a tubular branch conduit and merged into a transmission conduit of equal diameter for delivery to a transmission assembly.

  • Patent number: 5890842
Abstract: A ground anchor includes a planar drive head with a shank extending therefrom. The shank includes a plurality of inline segments with each segment including a cylindrical shaft portion and a cone-shaped tapered portion. The tapered portion of each upstream segment is connected to a shaft portion of an adjacent downstream segment. This relationship presents a plurality of indentations along the length of the shaft. Upon penetration of the shank into the ground, the earth collapses into the indentations which resist withdrawal of the anchor from the ground due to forces acting on the structure secured to the anchor such as a tarpaulin or the like. The planar drive head lies adjacent the ground to preclude above ground interference.

  • Patent number: 5762210
Abstract: A storage rack for a wheelbarrow includes a lower hook attached to a wall, the hook being configured to receive a portion of a forward lip of the wheelbarrow pan therein. A bar assembly is mounted above the hook and includes a U-shaped bar swingable between a first position with the bar adjacent the wall and a second position displaced from the wall. Upon the user rolling the wheelbarrow to the wall, the forward lip of the wheelbarrow pan is placed in the hook. Upon swinging the handles toward the wall the hook presents a pivot point for the wheelbarrow and supports the weight of the wheelbarrow. Upon the handles being placed adjacent the wall the bar is swung to its second position such that it bears against the handles. The bar precludes the handles from swinging away from the wall so as to maintain the wheelbarrow in a vertical position, the weight of the wheelbarrow being borne by the lower hook.
