  • Patent number: 4286457
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the solution viscosity of polymers using gel partition chromatography (GPC). The method comprises obtaining a GPC analysis of the solution and measuring the pressure drop at a selected point in the GPC flow path. The GPC analysis provides a measure of the polymer concentration in the solution. The viscosity can be determined from the pressure drop in combination with the known polymer concentration.
