Abstract: The present solution provides a system for users to create public and/or personal custom tags, apply them to calendar events, and then view calendar events based on various combinations of tags. Users can manually apply either preexisting or newly created tags to individual (or repeating) calendar events or they can create filters to automatically apply tags to meetings. Filters may used to apply tags to events in an individual's personal calendar, or they may be used to apply public, system-wide tags to calendar events being sent to a list of participants. Filters can be created to apply tags to a meetings based on a various attributes of the meeting, such as keywords in either the subject or meeting text, the meeting chair, the number of attendees, whether or not the user is required to attend, etc.

Abstract: A system for providing targeted Web feed subscription suggestions calculated based on IP (“Internet Protocol”) addresses. Web feeds are automatically suggested to users based on the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the user's computer system and previous feed subscriptions made from other computer systems having similar IP addresses. Feed suggestions may be weighted based on differing levels of IP address similarity, in order to reflect differing levels of geographic proximity between users. Users may be permitted to expressly indicate which of their feed subscriptions are to be made public through the feed reader user interface when they make subscriptions. In one embodiment, a method according to the invention includes: providing to a web browser a uniform resource locator (URL) directed to application data; making a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) request using the URL; caching in the web browser cache the application data; determining whether the application data has changed since caching; in the case that the application data has changed since caching, providing to the web browser an updated URL directed to changed application data; and in the case that the application data has not changed since caching, using the cached application data.
