  • Patent number: 9503988
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a method, computer program product and mobile communication device configured for managing radio states in a mobile communication device using device mobility information. A mobility state is determined from the number of cell changes over a predefined period of time. If the mobility state transitions to medium or high, such as when the user is in a vehicle, a Bluetooth™ radio is enabled. If a connection to a Bluetooth™-enabled device is available, a connection is established. When the connection is disconnected, a configurable timer is started. If the timer expires without re-establishing the connection or the mobility state transitioning to medium or high, the Bluetooth™ radio is disabled to reduce power consumption. According to an embodiment, a Wi-Fi radio may then be enabled to establish a Wi-Fi connection. Various configurations of computer program products and mobile communication devices are also described.

  • Patent number: 9432887
Abstract: A user equipment is provided comprising: 1) transceiver circuitry configured to operate in cells associated with at least one radio access technology (RAT) network; and 2) a controller configured to perform neighbor cell searches. The controller is further configured to determine when the user equipment enters a first RRC state from a second RRC state. In response to a determination that the user equipment entered a first RRC state from a second RRC state, the controller delays performing a cell search until the controller determines that the user equipment has received complete system information for a serving cell.

  • Patent number: 8957194
Abstract: Antagonists of human proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (“PCSK9”) are disclosed. The disclosed antagonists are effective in the inhibition of PCSK9 function and, accordingly, present desirable antagonists for use in the treatment of conditions associated with PCSK9 activity. The present invention also discloses nucleic acid encoding said antagonists, vectors, host cells, and compositions comprising the antagonists. Methods of making PCSK9-specific antagonists as well as methods of using the antagonists for inhibiting or antagonizing PCSK9 function are also disclosed and form important additional aspects of the present disclosure.

  • Patent number: 8942205
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture for performing idle mode mobility measurements in a mobile network are disclosed. An example method in a user equipment (UE) disclosed herein comprises receiving, from the mobile network, a system information block (SIB) message specifying idle mode mobility measurement is to be performed. If the measurement parameter threshold is not configured in the SIB message or if the SIB message includes an indication to not use a configured measurement parameter threshold in the SIB message, the UE sets a measurement parameter threshold for idle mode mobility measurement.

  • Patent number: 8594699
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for self-optimizing speed dependent scaling mechanisms are provided. A user equipment (UE) may determine its mobility state by using the cell reselection parameters included in a system information block message to identify a conjectural average time between cell reselections, calculating a current value of the average time between cell reselections at the UE, and comparing both values to determine its current mobility state. Different speed dependent scaling factors may be selected for a determined mobility state of the UE, allowing adapting the mobility parameters with a finer granularity. The mobility parameters may be adjusted using the corresponding speed dependent scaling factors, which in turn provide enhanced mobility performance for the UE.
