  • Patent number: 4805566
Abstract: A cam control connection arrangement is disclosed for influencing the control times of inlet valves of an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine comprises two parallel camshafts that per cylinder actuate two inlet valves and two outlet valves. The camshaft for the outlet valves, with the insertion of the cam control connection arrangement, drives the other camshaft by means of which the inlet valves are actuated.

  • Patent number: 4785772
Abstract: A crankshaft of a ferro-metallic material for reciprocating engines, particularly for internal combustion engines, includes bearing pins and crank pins whereby the crank pins are delimited by webs extending transversely to a longitudinal center axis of the crankshaft which are constructed as counterweights. For optimizing the crankshaft as regards weight and structural length combined with good mass balancing, the crank pins are provided with hollow bores in the direction of their center axis and the counterweights with heavy-metal bodies.

  • Patent number: 4759317
Abstract: A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with liquid cooling comprises a cylinder head and a cylinder crankcase connected with the cylinder head; the crankcase includes cylinder liners circumcirculated by the cooling medium. For reducing the weight of the internal combustion engine, the cooling medium quantity is reduced and the cylinder head and the cylinder liners are acted upon with cooling medium by a cross-flow cooling system. Additionally, an internal combustion engine unit of relatively short construction and relatively light weight is created by the particular construction of the cylinder liners.

  • Patent number: 4716638
Abstract: A method for aligning bearing covers at bearing sections of a crankcase in which bearing covers of a crankshaft bearing are aligned by way of fastening bolts and subsequently machined-in fitting pins and wherein the bearing bore for the crankshaft is subsequently machined. Thereafter, the crankshaft is assembled whereby the bearing cover is at first aligned by the fitting pins and is then fixed by means of the fastening bolts. Not only a secure support of the bearing cover at the bearing sections is assured thereby, but also narrow tolerances which favorably influence the bearing support of the crankshaft, can be maintained without problem.

  • Patent number: 4709670
Abstract: A cover hood is secured at the cylinder head by means of detachable retaining elements whereby a sealing member is provided between sections of the cylinder head and of the cover hood which are placed at one another. The retaining elements are formed by spring clamps which with mutually facing nose-shaped support areas engage in adjacent mounting recesses provided in vertical boundary walls of the cover hood and of the cylinder head in such a manner that the direction of action of the support areas of the spring clamps lies approximately on a vertical line that includes a center line of the sections and of the sealing member.

  • Patent number: 4693216
Abstract: These crankshaft bearings consist of a light-metal alloy and are formed by a bearing section of a crankcase and a bearing cap. In order to avoid a bearing clearance causing noise, a core made of iron metal is poured at least into the bearing cap, said core, by means of a bearing area, directly surrounding the crankshaft journal of a crankshaft, and having lugs for bores connected by a transverse part. The bores are penetrated by the screws in order to fasten the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4657043
Abstract: A pressure relief valve for a lubrication system of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body disposed within a generally cylindrical bore in a housing. The valve body is axially movable within the bore and is provided with a sealing surface on one end. A spring biases the sealing surface against a valve seat in the housing. A guide, which is preferably sleeve-shaped, is non-fixedly arranged within the bore for guiding the axial movement of the valve body and reducing the impact of manufacturing tolerance variations on valve operation. In a preferred embodiment, the sealing surface of the valve body is spherically shaped and the valve seat is conically shaped. A vent passage is provided in the sleeve-shaped guide to equalize pressures within the bore during operation of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4559783
Abstract: A connecting line between the compressor of an exhaust gas turbocharger and a suction pipe of an internal combustion engine. For the compensation of tolerances and for the installation simplification, the connecting line includes at least two nested pipe sections disposed one within the other and cooperating by way of sealing means; the pipe sections are connected with each other by means of a disengageable device including a bridge.

  • Patent number: 4510898
Abstract: A reciprocating piston internal combustion engine equipped with a vibration-damping balancing shaft that is rotatably supported in a bearing housing which in turn is secured at the cylinder crankcase by means of a threaded connection; in order to support the rotational forces of the balancing shaft between bearing housing and cylinder housing without play, at least one of the bolts of the threaded connection includes a conically shaped neck that cooperates with a corresponding chamfering in the bearing housing.

  • Patent number: 4493295
Abstract: An internal combustion engine, especially for motor vehicles, includes separate oil return and vent channels extending between a crank space of a cylinder crankcase and a valve-actuating space formed by a cylinder head and a cover. For the defined and separate guidance of the media passing through the oil return channels and vent channels, the oil return channels are arranged at a distance to the vent channels and the vent channels are connected to an air guide device inside of the valve-actuating space.
