    Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of pure 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile by the ammonoxidation of 2,6-dichlorotoluene in the presence of a catalyst based on vanadium-molybdenum oxide, wherein the reaction is carried out in a fluidized bed process and water is sprayed into the reaction gases after leaving the fluidized bed reactor.
