  • Patent number: 6737276
Abstract: A method and an apparatus is provided for the determination of the content of organic carbon (TOC) of liquids, in particular ultra-pure water, wherein a liquid sample under investigation is located in a reaction chamber and carbon present in the liquid is statically oxidized to mainly carbon dioxide. After oxidation of the carbon, the sample quantity is transferred to a measuring cell, connected to the reaction chamber by liquid entering the reaction chamber from the outside the reaction chamber, where (i.e. in the measuring cell) the carbon concentration of the sample, which is proportional to the carbon content, is dynamically registered as the sample flows through the measuring cell.

  • Patent number: 5925240
Abstract: A water treatment system having dosing control for providing treated water having very low organic and ionic contamination, that can be accurately dispensed. The water treatment system having dosing control includes a water inlet hydraulically connected to a pump having a variable speed motor. At least one water treatment device is hydraulically connected downstream of the pump, at least one outlet valve is hydraulically connected downstream of the water treatment unit, and a recirculation line is hydraulically connected from the outlet valve to the pump. The output of the pump is controlled by a regulating device connected to the variable speed motor. The system provides for lower electrical current usage and reduced acoustical disturbances.

  • Patent number: 5919357
Abstract: A filter cartridge assembly comprising: at least one filter cartridge; said filter cartridge including a housing having two ends, the housing containing a filter media; a first end cap disposed on one end of said housing, said first end cap including a fluid inlet port, a fluid outlet port, a first fluid distributor, and a vent including at least one hydrophobic membrane positioned in a channel formed in said first end cap that allows entrapped air to be removed from said cartridge; a second end cap disposed on a second end of said housing, said second end cap including a product collection plenum, and a second fluid distributor that separates said filter media from said product collection plenum; and a liquid transfer tube disposed within the housing and extending from said product collection plenum to said fluid outlet port, is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4741828
Abstract: Filter cartridge for the improvement of the quality of drinking water, consisting of a vessel (10) with sieve-type covered apertures (18, 44) filled with a compound (16) of ion exchange resin and/or absorbent carbon together with a bacterio-statically effective material, in particular silver, in dissociable form, through which the water to be treated is conducted mainly in a downwards direction, the vessel having a collection space (48), for a limited quantity of water, originating from the vessel's floor (42), which is separated from the outlet aperture (44). Thus drying out of the cartridge through non-use over a longer period of time or through misuse is prevented and the effectiveness of the bacterio-statically effective material is retained to combat the feared multiplication of germs in the treatment compound.
