  • Patent number: 6484477
Abstract: Method and device to close containers with a closure that contains a reclosable drinking opening and a protective cap to cover such a drinking opening. Closures of this type for the closure of containers are supplied in the form of a complete unit with a pressed-on protective cap and a closed drinking opening, and in this condition they are cleaned from inside, preferably prior to the actual closing. The closure is then placed on the bottle. During the cleaning and/or sterilization process, it is unavoidable that traces of fluid will remain in the internal structure of the closure, which is constructed of a number of different parts. Such fluid traces represent a major disadvantage, in particular in the beverage industry, and are therefore undesirable.

  • Patent number: 6149168
Abstract: A carrier for tools and the like has a base normally adapted to sit on a floor surface, a frame extending upward from the base, and a hollow case adapted to hold the tools and having bottom, top, and side walls displaceable on the frame between a lower position sitting on the base and an upper position on the frame spaced above the base. This frame includes at least one generally vertical post and the case is vertically slidable along the post. A latch or the like is provided for retaining the case in the upper position on the post. The latch includes a spring-loaded latch that automatically secures the case in the upper position when it is slid into the upper position. In addition the frame includes two such posts parallel to each other and the upper wall is provided generally centrally with a handle. Each post includes an upper tube and a lower tube telescoping there-with. The lower tubes are fixed in the base and each post projects through the lower wall and through the upper wall of the case.

  • Patent number: 5309694
Abstract: A device for use with a closure magazine of a closing or capping machine for introducing crown corks or similar closures into a closure channel from a chamber that accommodates a plurality of such closures. The closures are conducted in the closure channel in a successive manner and in single file. At least one magnetic conveyor is provided at a transition that is formed partially in the chamber and partially in an entry region of the closure channel. At this transition, the conveyor exerts a conveying effect upon the closures in a first conveying direction from the chamber into the closure channel.

  • Patent number: 5285618
Abstract: An apparatus for separating and making available crown corks or similar closure elements. The apparatus has a wheel that rotates about a vertical axis. The wheel is provided with carrier members that project radially beyond a periphery of the wheel and are disposed over a support surface. The carrier members successively move closure elements that rest on the support surface from a transfer position formed at the end of a closure channel to a receiving position, where a respectively available closure element is picked up and carried along by a closing mechanism of a closing machine. The support surface is a surface of the wheel, which rotates about the vertical axis. At least one magnet arrangement is effective at each carrier surface. This magnet arrangement locates the carried-along closure element during movement between the transfer position and the receiving position.

  • Patent number: 5150558
Abstract: A closing mechanism for a capping machine for closing bottles via crown caps or similar closures. The closing mechanism is disposed over a bottle support and, in a vertical axis, can be lowered out of a starting position and returned thereto. A deformation member is provided for placing a closure upon the mouth of the bottle and for subsequently fixing the closure thereon via deformation of the closure while simultaneously pressing the closure against the mouth. A hold-down mechanism extends centrally through the deformation member and is spring-loaded via at least one spring. The hold-down mechanism is displaceable by a prescribed stroke in the vertical direction relative to a closure part that cooperates with the spring. For a CIP cleaning, openings are provided in the region of the hold-down surface for supplying and withdrawing a cleaning or rinsing fluid.

  • Patent number: 5040354
Abstract: A rotary-type capping machine is provided for capping bottles with closure caps. A plurality of capping elements are provided that rotate about a vertical machine axis and can be raised and lowered in the vertical direction. To clean the capping elements, rinsing caps can be secured thereon, each of which, when secured on a capping element, closes off toward the outside a rinsing chamber in which are disposed at least those surfaces of the capping element for which cleanliness is particularly critical. To avoid a connection and loosening of hoses or conduits during cleaning, each capping element is provided above a rinsing cap connection area with fixed connections for the supply and withdrawal of a cleaning or rinsing agent. If the capping machine has a cap transfer mechanism with a rotating transfer element, to clean the same a tray-like element for a cleaning agent is provided in which the transfer element can be immersed by lowering the cap transfer mechasnism and/or by raising the tray-like element.

  • Patent number: 4644981
Abstract: An electrically controlled filling element, for filling machines, having one or more actuating devices for one or more shutoff valves, which are disposed in the gas-conveying systems of the filling element and are actuated for control of the various filling processes, and/or for the valve actuating device of one or more liquid flow valves. These actuating devices are made insensitive to the penetration of moisture, for example cleaning liquid, by providing one or more of the actuating devices with a diaphragm which is operated by pressure medium, and by disposing the respective pressure medium control valves which control the supply of pressure medium separate and at a distance from the other parts of the filling element at a location of the filling machine which is protected from the entry of liquid. An additional shielding of the pressure medium control valve can be undertaken by providing a housing therefor.
