  • Patent number: 5564637
Abstract: A pressure roller in a winding machine is axially shifted in accordance with the progress of winding so that the winding turns are tightly engaged with each other. At the end of a winding layer, the pressure roller is positioned adjacent a flange of the winding drum at a spacing distance equal to 1.5 times the diameter of the round material, so that the next winding layer is wound in the channels between winding turns of the first layer. The pressure roller and the winding drum are axially shiftable independently of each other, thereby providing centering of the drum with respect to the in-feed material and orderly reversal of winding action after each winding layer has been completed. The method and the apparatus are particularly suitable for thick round material which is hard to flex, such as solid or stranded wire or cable.

  • Patent number: 5499774
Abstract: In a wire pull-in apparatus in which a wire to be coated passes repeatedly through individual work units of a wire enameling facility, band rollers (5, 6, 7) are coaxially mounted before the faces of wire guide roller blocks (2, 3, 4) about which the wire to be coated runs, with an endless band (1) bearing a fastening portion (8) and being guided in untwistable fashion about the band rollers. The wire shifting rollers (9) and (10) are located before each wire guide roller block (2) and (3) and are axially parallel thereto. The wire to be pulled in is fixed on the fastening portion (8) and is placed about the wire guide roller blocks (2, 3, 4) by rotation of the endless band (1). After each full rotation of the endless band (1), each new wire loop placed about the wire guide blocks is shifted laterally a certain distance on the wire guide blocks by rotation or axial shifting of the wire shifting rollers (9, 11) so that room is always made for the placing of a further wire loop.

  • Patent number: 5492721
Abstract: Enamelled wire is produced using almost solvent-free fusible resins. Molten resin is pumped from a supply reservoir against the direction of movement of the wire with part of the resin coating the wire. The raw wire is preheated to a temperature near the melting temperature of the molten resin. Excess resin is returned to the supply reservoir after the resin coating the wire has been calibrated to a predetermined circumferential dimension. The resin coating the wire is then hardened. The coating apparatus includes a raw wire guide, a demineralized water bath, an annealing furnace having a protective steam atmostphere, a cooling water bath, a wire preheater, an enameling stove, a heated resin reservoir, a resin applicator and a winding-on machine. The resin coating is applied under closed system conditions, thereby substantially reducing emissions.

  • Patent number: 4905626
Abstract: An automatically operated wire intake device is proposed for a wire enameling machine. In this machine the wire that is to be enameled is wound a number of times around roller blocks that stand at some distance from one another. The wire runs through the processing stations of the wire enameling machine a number of times by rotating around these roller blocks. With regards to the wire intake device, a displaceable slide block is positioned on a rotating transfer bar onto which the end of the wire is fastened, and which a pilot carries. Upon each rotation of the transfer bar this pilot comes into contact with a point arrangement which displaces the slide block by one "stage" to the side at each rotation, which displacement corresponds to the spacing of neighboring guide channels on the roller blocks.
