  • Publication number: 20070075529
Abstract: A safety system intended for an occupant of a motor vehicle is in the form of a protective bag which can be filled with gas. In a moved-in condition, the bag is folded together in a packet and, in an inflated condition, the bag extends along an interior side of a side window in order to protect a head region of an adjacent sitting occupant against an impact. To improve functioning of the safety device and reduce a space requirement, the packet is fully immersed in a door body of the door, and the protective bag unfolds during inflation from the door body, in a direction of a roof, essentially along the door window.

  • Patent number: 6334649
Abstract: In a holding device for releasable fastening of a child seat to a vehicle seat, at least one holding element is secured to the vehicle seat by a screw fastening. The holding element has a holding leg which projects, extends crosswise, and is aligned approximately horizontally, to which leg the child seat can be fastened. The holding element is provided with a simple design and can be easily installed by forming each holding element from an annular holding eye, with a fastening leg of the holding eye aligned approximately parallel to the holding leg being securable, from the front of the vehicle seat and by only one screw connection, to the vehicle seat.

  • Patent number: 6106012
Abstract: A deflection fitting for seat belts of vehicles, particularly motor vehicles, is held in position via a fastening screw. A head section of the fastening screw and at least a partial area of the deflection fitting is covered by a cap in the direction of the occupant compartment. In the event of a head impact of a vehicle occupant onto the deflection fitting or onto the head section of the fastening screw, the risk of injury is reduced by a hollow-body-shaped deformation element disposed between the fastening screw and the cap, which is made of thin-wall sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 6007093
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for deactivating an airbag in a motor vehicle with at least one vehicle seat, to which a child seat placed on the seat can be fastened. A device is provided for deactivating an airbag located in front when the child seat is mounted. In order to allow such a device to be retrofitted simply and economically even in existing mass-produced vehicles, the device is formed by a tongue additionally mounted on the child seat and a latch connected in an active relationship with a central triggering unit. The airbag is deactivated by inserting the tongue into the latch and is reactivated by releasing the connection. For this purpose, the latch has an integrated sensor connected by a lead to the central triggering unit. In order to increase the certainty that the airbag will be shut off when the child seat is mounted, the sensor is made redundant.

  • Patent number: 5687989
Abstract: An impact protection device for an occupant of a motor vehicle comprises a prefabricated air bag module which is inserted into a recess of a dashboard and which essentially comprises a housing, a folded inflatable air bag and an inflating device. The air bag module is held in position by holders on a body-side transverse support, and the recess is closed on the side facing the occupant by a cover connected with the air bag module. To achieve a fast and low-cost mounting of the air bag module and of the cover in the vehicle and to be able to compensate mounting and manufacturing tolerances, the cover is swivellably connected with the air bag module and the air bag module, the cover and the holders form a prefabricated modular unit. The holders are pushed onto the transverse support and reach therearound in sections. Movable adjusting elements are arranged between the holders and the transverse support.

  • Patent number: 5261692
Abstract: A restraining device for motor vehicle occupants has an inflation device, a housing, and an inflatable airbag connected with the housing. In order to provide a simple and inexpensive airbag attachment to the housing with a functionally correct grip, provision is made for the airbag to abut the outside of the housing by at least one suspender-like section.

  • Patent number: 4895406
Abstract: A bumper arrangement for motor vehicles consists of a deformation-resistant support, which extends transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and is supported with respect to the vehicle. A covering covers the support and has an edge portion with a deformation-resistant strip which is fastened at an adjacent body portion of the motor vehicle. The covering can be adjusted with respect to the adjacent body portion to be flush with the shell of the body portion by locally arranged clamping elements braced against a recess-shaped area of the body. The clamping elements are prepositioned and held at the body by screwable fastening members which interact with spreading members and which are operated from an interior space of the vehicle.
