  • Patent number: 8216117
Abstract: A method for cooling a roller device, which has a right bearing housing, a left bearing housing, and a roller, which is rotatably supported by journals in the bearing housings, especially of strand guide rolls, roller table rollers, pinch rolls, support rolls, or driving rolls in continuous casting plants, in which a cooling medium cools the bearings mounted in the bearing housings and passes through an axial bore in the roller. The cooling medium enters the bearing housing of the roller device on one side, passes around the bearing mounted in this bearing housing, then flows through the axial bore in the roller to the other side, passes around the bearing mounted in the other bearing housing, and is then discharged from the roller device.

  • Publication number: 20120024106
Abstract: The invention comprises a continuous casting gearbox (1, 10, 100) used for operating rolls or rollers in a continuous casting plant. The gearbox (1, 10, 100) has water-bearing chambers (2, 20, 200) for shielding against heat radiation and hot convection. Due to the fact that the continuous casting gearbox (1, 10, 100) is surrounded by the chambers (2, 20, 200), it is possible to achieve an effective shielding, thus being able to avoid gearbox damage caused by an gearbox oil overheat.

  • Publication number: 20090314468
Abstract: A method for cooling a roller device which includes a right bearing housing, a left bearing housing, and a roller which is rotatably supported by journals in the bearing housings, in which a cooling medium cools the bearings (13, 14) mounted in the bearing housings (2, 3) and passes through an axial bore in the roller. The method further includes steps according to which the cooling medium enters the bearing housing (2, 3) of the roller device (1) on one side, passes around the bearing (13, 14) mounted in this bearing housing (2, 3), flows through the axial bore in the roller (4) to the other side, passes around the bearing (13, 14) mounted in the other bearing housing (2, 3), and is then discharged from the roller device (1).

  • Patent number: 7601110
Abstract: A roller device, which includes a right bearing housing, a left bearing housing and a roller, which is rotatably supported by journals in the bearing housings in continuous casting plants. A cooling medium is passed through an axial bore in the roller, and bores, which form a closed cavity, are arranged around the bearings mounted in each of the bearing housings. A cooling medium inlet is provided in a first of the bearing housings, and a discharge bore for the cooling medium, which is arranged on the end face of a second of the bearing housings, is located next to the bearing cover so that the cooling medium flows into the inlet in the first bearing housing, through the axial bore in the roller and out the discharge bore in the second bearing housing.

  • Patent number: 7159642
Abstract: A method and strand guide for supporting, guiding and cooling casting strands (1) made of steel, especially preliminary sections (2) for girders, which are cooled by injected water (29) and are drawn, serve to prevent cracks, especially surface cracks, from appearing in the microstructure by adapting the cooling conditions of the surface of the strand in the region of the secondary cooling, and serve to prevent undercooling of the strand shell, wherein in order to avoid an undesirable solidification structure on the upper flange edges or in other cross-sectional areas, the cooling and support of the beam blank format are so adapted to the solidification range that cooling and support are provided exclusively where a crater is formed.

  • Publication number: 20060183614
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for cooling a roller device (1), especially billet-guiding rollers, table rollers, conveying rollers, supporting rollers, or driving rollers in continuous casting plants, comprising a right bearing housing (2), a left bearing housing (3), and a roller (4) which is rotatably mounted within the bearing housing (2, 3) by means of journals (11, 12). According to the inventive method, a cooling medium is directed through an axial bore located in the roller (4) while additionally cooling the bearings (13, 14) that are mounted in the bearing housings (2, 3). The invention also relates to a corresponding roller device (1).

  • Patent number: 7036557
Abstract: A device for the continuous casting of metals, especially steel material, to elongated products in a multistrand casting apparatus with a plurality of continuous casting molds which are oscillatingly driven in an oscillating frame (2) by means of leaf springs (4) whereby the leaf springs (4) extend transversely to the casting direction (1) and serve for guide and weight compensation. The smallest possible strand spacing “A” is provided for that on a longitudinal foundation frame (5) to housings (6a) in the form of compact flat cassettes (6) are secured one behind the other in the strand travel direction. In the housings upper and lower leaf spring pairs (4a; 4b) run transversely to the cast strands (3) and the oscillating strands (11) engage the leaf spring pairs (4a; 4b), whereby a front oscillating drive (11a) works synchronously with the rear oscillating drive (11b).

  • Publication number: 20040255987
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for draining waste water (7) from the inner bend of the strand guide (3) of a beam blank casting machine. In order to drain said waste water from the beam blank in a targeted and controlled manner, a draining device (6) is arranged in the area of the strand guide (4) for the beam blank, said device being provided with jet nozzles (8). Under the effect of jets (13, 14) directed with high energy against the water flow direction, the waste water is lifted on the formation of a banking-up pressure by means of said draining device (6), directed at the lateral edges (11) of the inner bend (4) of the beam blank (10) and collected in a sintered groove (9), arranged thereunder.
