  • Patent number: 8784503
Abstract: The invention relates to a high-strength and abrasion-resistant fibrous material and to a method for the production thereof. According to said method, a natural fiber material is solubilized in an alkaline manner. The fibrous material is treated with an alkaline material, without being subjected to mechanical stress a) at a temperature of between 5 and 30° C. and then b) at a temperature of between 80 and 150° C., and is then optionally washed and/or dried.

  • Publication number: 20100324192
Abstract: The invention relates to an optimized method for improving the flameproofing of fiber composite materials or prepregs, particularly for the production of thermosets. An upper limit already exists on the percentage increase in flameproofing agent for glass fiber composites. However, the application of natural fibers in the composite increases the demands placed on the flameproofing. Thus the problem addressed by this invention is to offer a new method for the flameproofing of natural fiber composites and composites with increased flameproofing, and for the flameproofing of conventional fiber composites, which avoids the disadvantages of known methods which are created by increasing the viscosity of the polymer with flameproofing agent. Furthermore, a flameproofed composite should be offered, which avoids the disadvantages of known fiber composites which are created by increasing the viscosity of the polymer with flameproofing agent.

  • Patent number: 5666696
Abstract: A process for sclerenchyma fibers, in particular flax, includes mechanical treatment accompanied by formation of a fiber strip and alignment of the fibers essentially parallel to one another. The fibers of the fiber strip are freed of wood constituents, greases, pectins and other impurities by a chemical and/or cooking treatment of the fiber strip. The treated fiber strip is dried and then divided into shorter sections. These sections are at least partly pulled apart or opened to form fiber bundles. The fiber bundles are carded at a set moisture content of at least 10%-wt. and combined to give a fine fiber strip.
