  • Patent number: 6860313
Abstract: A device for preparing moulding sand. The device includes a mixer configured to operate under at least a partial vacuum and at least one feeder to introduce components to be mixed. An inlet in the mixer is of sufficient size to allow rapid introduction of the components into the mixer from the feeder. The combination of large inlet opening and a pressure differential between the mixer and the feeder significantly reduces the time required to fill the mixer. In addition, the presence of the pressure differential made possible by the vacuum in the mixer reduces the likelihood that airborne contaminants resident in the mixer will migrate outside the mixer. Optional moveable conveyor chutes minimize contact of airborne contaminants with adjacent equipment, while optional mixing tools facilitate the introduction of powdered additives into the mixer.

  • Publication number: 20040020623
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preparation of foundry sand by means of a mixing process which is carried out in a mixer (1), said preparation occurring at least partially in a vacuum. In order to provide a method and device for the preparation of low-cost foundry sand which can be used in an efficient manner, whereby said foundry sand has a uniform temperature and homogeneous quality in addition to being able to be charged more quickly and therefore economically in comparison with other mixers, the foundry sand is added, at least intermittently, in the form of a volume flow of at least 100 l/s through an opening in the mixer which has a cross-sectional area of at least 0.25 m2, preferably at least 0.4 m2, more preferably at least 0.5 m2.

  • Patent number: 5016361
Abstract: A method of extracting liquid from wet material in a fluidized bed is characterized in that in a circulating fluidized bed created mechanically by a mixing means, the material is thoroughly mixed, essentially in its entirety and in that in a first stage of the method, using the heat potential of the wet material, the liquid contained at below atmospheric pressure is at least partially evaporated and in that in a second stage of the method which follows on immediately from the first, heated gas is passed through the fluidized bed, the drying process being completed by at least partial saturation of the gas with the vapor from the liquid which is to be extracted.

  • Patent number: 4998678
Abstract: An agitator ball mill comprises a grinding container having a cylindrical grinding chamber which is defined by a grinding-chamber wall. At least one agitator, which is provided with projecting agitating tools is arranged in said grinding chamber. The agitator and the grinding container can be rotatably driven about their respective axes which are parallel to each other. The grinding chamber is partially filled with auxiliary grinding bodies and has a grinding-stock supply means and a grinding-stock discharge means comprising a grinding-stock/auxiliary-grinding-bodies separating device. The agitator axis has an eccentricity with respect to the central longitudinal axis of the grinding chamber.

  • Patent number: 4997357
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of treating power station residues in the form of bulk material, particularly the filter ash from power stations, by hydrating the lime content by adding moisture and by further wetting of the bulk material, with an opportunity for constantly feeding in material to be processed and discharging processed material, and also to an apparatus for carrying out the method. In order to provide a method and an apparatus by which large quantities of power stations residues (ash) can be quickly and safely treated at economic and comparatively low cost, it is according to the invention proposed that the bulk material supplied should pass through a succession of different spatially substantially separate treatment zones be moved mechanically at adjustable intensity throughout the entire process, be differently treated in each treatment zone, be caused to react and transported along a reaction line under control.

  • Patent number: 4514833
Abstract: A dispersing machine having a machine upright has a cantilevered machine head disposed thereon such that it can be raised and lowered by means of a lifting apparatus which can be acted upon by a pressure-medium pumping assembly. A rotatably drivable stirring apparatus is disposed on one cantilevered end of the machine head and is lowered into a container disposed beside the machine upright and connected with it in a releasable manner by means of a container holding device. The container holding device has at least two clamping members substantially receiving the container between them. In order to make it easier to initiate and release the clamping action exerted on the container, the container holding device is actuated by means of a pressure-medium motor, which is connected with the pressure-medium pumping assembly.

  • Patent number: 4390285
Abstract: A system for mixing of wood chips or the like with glue which involves an intensive movement of the chips during the addition of the glue and a subsequent thorough mixing of the glue and the chips in a ring of material to be mixed, is characterized by steadily accelerating the chips out of an axial motion via a centrifugal and helical motion and by the addition of the glue during this acceleration, the acceleration to the velocity of the ring of material to be mixed taking place only following the addition of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4190371
Abstract: An apparatus for discontinuous mixing of substances, one of which is a liquid and especially suitable for the mixing of thixotropic materials. The mixer has a high speed rotor which cooperates with a more slowly rotating stator. Both rotor and stator are provided with teeth disposed on mutually concentric circles. When the teeth move past one another, shearing slots are formed. The drive shaft carrying the stator also carries at least one radially extending arm on which is mounted a wall scraper whose angle of attack with respect to the wall may be changed by rotation about an internal axis.
