  • Patent number: 5194717
Abstract: A compressor crankcase heater bracket and method of assembly is shown in which a bracket fastened to the compressor accommodates a metal spring clip holding the heater. The method of assembly results in a quick and easy assembly process without compromising the integrity of the transfer of heat to the housing. Thermal transfer is further aided by conduction through the clip and bracket.

  • Patent number: 5022833
Abstract: A single piece gasket valve plate assembly for sealing and separating assembly parts secured to the valve plate of a reciprocating piston compressor. The gasket includes a compressible peripheral portion for sealing and separating the valve plate to the cylinder head. The device also includes compressible central portions, which are spaced from and integral with the peripheral portion, wherein the central portions members are adapted to encircle the suction ports of the valve plate to seal and separate the suction ports from the discharge ports. A connecting portion extending through the discharge chamber connects the peripheral portion of the gasket to the central portions.

  • Patent number: 4793457
Abstract: A shield for an automotive compressor clutch assembly comprises a resilient hollow part that attaches to the rotatable clutch pulley by means of an annular lip located along the inside of the hollow part and an annular groove located along the outer rim of the pulley, thereby covering the outside surface of the pulley together with the clutch mechanism located adjacent thereto. A cooperating notch and land arrangement prevents relative rotational movement between the shield and the pulley.

  • Patent number: 4474541
Abstract: An internal crankcase support for a radial compressor of the scotch yoke type, especially adapted for use in automotive air-conditioners and having a cast crankcase which is split along a plane axially passing through the center lines of the radially oriented cylinders. Each half of the crankcase has a plurality of radially extending semi-cylindrical recesses which, when assembled, form the cylinders. A steel outer housing encloses the crankcase and serves to form the intake and outlet chambers. The housing is formed of two halves which are joined together along a fluid-tight interface and additionally strengthened by means of a plurality of tie rods which pass through openings in the crankcase and clamp the housing halves tightly together. Internal radial support for the crankcase within the housing is provided by a radial support ring secured to the rear housing section and which, upon assembling the housing halves, tightly fits over a circular crankcase shoulder on the rear crankcase half.

  • Patent number: 4326839
Abstract: A cylinder unloading mechanism for a multi-cylinder compressor including a block having a plurality of cylinders. Each cylinder is closed by a valve plate having suction and discharge ports communicating with the cylinder and respectively having spring-biased suction and discharge valves. A cylinder head is secured to the valve plate and has suction and discharge chambers respectively communicating with the suction and discharge ports. Suction and discharge passages respectively communicate with the suction and discharge chambers in the head. A partition in the head divides the suction chamber into first and second sections respectively communicating with the suction port and suction passage, the partition having an unloading port communicating with the two sections of the suction chamber.

The tie rods pass through eyelet rivets disposed within the openings in the crankcase. The rivets are clinched so as to secure the crankcase halves together and seal the interface between the crankcase halves in the area of the tie rod openings.
