    Abstract: In the production of a pile fabric by the method described in U.S. Pat. No. 3,878,011 in which pile tufts are implanted in a layer of adhesive and the adhesive is subsequently heated to reduce the viscosity of the adhesive temporarily, the pile tufts are subjected to a tamping operation while the viscosity of the adhesive is reduced.
