  • Patent number: 6478304
Abstract: A sealing ring is provided for non-hermetic fluid seals with a restricted passage between sealing elements rotating relative to one another the sealing has a carrier and at least one sealing rib extending radially on the outside or inside around the carrier. The edge of each rib forms a flow restriction with an opposing running in surface, with the sealing rib presenting an abrasive geometry. Each sealing rib has for the most part a smooth, rotationally symmetrical contour, and one or a few cutting elements are arranged at one or a few points on each sealing rib so that each element projects radially and axially on one or both sides from the sealing rib contour.

  • Patent number: 6085593
Abstract: The present invention relates to a testing apparatus for testing vibration damping elements of moving blades, with a mounting means to be attached to an oscillating apparatus, whereby a damping element to be tested is to be arranged between the mounting means and the blades, and at least one extendable body that can be charged with pressure is arranged between the mounting means and the damping element.

  • Patent number: 5688105
Abstract: A brush seal assembly is provided for sealing off spaces on a circumferential gap which are acted upon by pressure in a different manner, particularly between an engine casing and an engine shaft. On the engine casing, a holding device for a bristle bundle is provided from which the bristle bundle is guided between circumferential webs sealingly against the engine rotor and, with respect to the one web facing the high pressure side, forms an axial gap in the circumferential direction. In the axial gap, a covering ring for the bristle bundle is arranged in an axially and radially movable manner which is operated by the differential pressure and can be displaced with respect to the bristle bundle. With respect to the ends of the webs surrounding the engine shaft at a distance, the covering ring is to project out of the axial gap and surround the engine shaft by means of a radial sealing gap.

  • Patent number: 5026252
Abstract: A sealing device is provided, specifically between engine spaces which fluidically are acted upon by a different pressure, particularly for turbo-engines, such as gas turbo-engines. The sealing device includes at least one brush sealing device non-rotatably anchored at the stator side, the free bristle ends of this brush sealing device being guided in the direction toward an engine rotor. In this case, the brush sealing device is to be constructed as a radial sliding ring sealing device. The free ends of the bristles, while forming a secondary sealing, are guided in a circumferential groove of a sliding ring which is separated at least at one circumferential point, and which, on the side facing away from the bristles, forms a self-centering primary sealing at the engine rotor.

  • Patent number: 4752077
Abstract: A seal between rotating machine components, such as two hollow shafts, is constructed as a sliding ring seal. An axially and radially effective sealing is achieved by using a centrifugal force for causing a wedging effect on sealing elements which are axially and radially effective.
