  • Patent number: 5390478
Abstract: An ornamental safety accessory for riding stirrups is provided by a series of rods fixed to the stirrup by mounting elements attached to the inside of the stirrup opening, the rods forming an inverted U-shape aligned with the stirrup opening. Revolvable elements are distributed along the length of each rod, engaged by the rider's boot when his foot is twisted upwardly or to either side to insure release of the boot even if the rider is thrown.

  • Patent number: 4535221
Abstract: A steering wheel having cross spokes and mounted for rotation on a steering column is provided with an electric heating arrangement including a thin strip of metal foil adhesively bonded to and extending substantially about the entire outer periphery of the wheel. The outer surface of the foil strip is coated with an electrically insulating plastic film and a protective cover is disposed over the foil strip and steering wheel outer periphery and secured by lacing. A control switch mounted on one of the spokes is connected to the foil strip by power supply leads extending along the spoke. A current limiting resistance element is interposed intermediate the length of the metal foil strip to insure moderate current levels therethrough and is carried by another spoke of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4491275
Abstract: A dispenser is disclosed detachably secured to the front or rear of a vehicle to enable spreading of road salt or other granular material. In a first embodiment the dispenser is detachably mounted to the upper edge of a snow plow blade. A slidable damper plate regulates the flow of material from a hopper onto a multi-speed spreader rotor, which causes an even dispersion of the material by directing it outwardly and against the forward surface of the snow plow blade. The damper plate is positioned by a cable system causing sliding of the plate by tilting of the snow plow blade, with a visual indicator enabling viewing of the plate position within the vehicle cab.In a second embodiment, the dispenser is detachably mounted to the rear bumper of a motor vehicle and the damper plate is actuated by means of an electro-mechanical actuator. A deflector shield is positioned across the rear of the vehicle to deflect the dispensed material directed thereagainst by the spreader rotor.
