  • Patent number: 4398067
Abstract: Telephone instruments have an apertured base through which project depressible dialing elements, such as touch tone keys or push buttons. A locking device for telephone instruments with depressible keys or buttons comprises a body fixed to the base and formed with a bore therethrough. Disposed within the bore of the body is a movable member that has one end thereof projecting over a depressible dialing element. By moving the movable member in one direction, a depressible dialing element is depressed to lock the telephone instrument. By moving the movable member in an opposite direction, the depressed dialing element under its own yieldable action rises to become fully extended to enable the telephone instrument to be operated.

  • Patent number: 4096392
Abstract: A rack for storing spent nuclear fuel elements in which a plurality of aligned rows of upright enclosures of generally square cross-sectional areas contain vertically disposed fuel elements. The enclosures are fixed at the lower ends thereof to a base. Pockets are formed between confronting walls of adjacent enclosures for receiving high absorption neutron absorbers, such as Boral, cadmium, borated stainless steel and the like for the closer spacing of spent fuel elements.

  • Patent number: 4042828
Abstract: A rack for storing spent nuclear fuel elements in which a plurality of aligned rows of upright enclosures of generally square cross-sectional areas contain vertically disposed spent fuel elements. Each fuel element is supported at the lower end thereof by a respective support that rests on the floor of the spent fuel pool for a nuclear power plant. An open rack frame is employed as an upright support for the enclosures containing the spent fuel elements. Legs at the lower corners of the frame rest on the floor of the pool to support the frame. In one exemplary embodiment, the support for the fuel element is in the form of a base on which a fuel element rests and the base is supported by legs. In another exemplary embodiment, each fuel element is supported on the pool floor by a self-adjusting support in the form of a base on which a fuel element rests and the base rests on a ball or swivel joint for self-alignment.

  • Patent number: 4029968
Abstract: Racks for storing spent nuclear fuel elements in a spent fuel storage pool are placed in the pool one above the other. Guide pins and guide pin receptacles mate for the alignment of the racks one above the other. A frame-like support removably holds the racks one above the other. Interengaging members between the racks and the frame-like support retain the racks in position relative to the frame-like support.
