Patent number: 11624938Abstract: An unobtrusive augmented reality (AR) system can be used to assist the wearer in every day interactions by projecting information from the contact lens display onto the retina of the wearer's eye. The unobtrusive augmented reality system includes a necklace and a contact lens display that are unobtrusive to the wearer and the wearer's surrounding environment. The necklace of the unobtrusive augmented reality system generates power and data for the contact lens displays. The necklace and contact lens display include conductive coils inductively coupled by a magnetic field. The inductive coupling allows data and power generated by the necklace to be transferred to the contact lens display. A projector in the contact lens display projects images generated from the data onto the retina of the wearers eye.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2021Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: Tectus CorporationInventors: Gregory David Miller, Brian Elliot Lemoff, Kuang-mon Ashley Tuan, Herbert John Kniess, Ion Opris, Michael West Wiemer, Drew Daniel Perkins

Patent number: 10644543Abstract: An augmented reality system can include an electronic contact lens, a power source, and a head wearable object. The contact lens, power source, and head wearable object all include corresponding conductive loops to enable wireless transfer of power between the power source and the contact lens. When current is driven through a conductive loop of the power source, the power source generates a primary time-varying magnetic field. The primary time varying magnetic field induces a current in a conductive loop of the head wearable object. The induced current in the head wearable object generates a secondary time-varying magnetic field. Both the primary and secondary time varying magnetic field generate a current in the conductive loop of the contact lens. The system can also include a haptic feedback system that allows information to be communicated between elements of the system.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2018Date of Patent: May 5, 2020Assignee: Tectus CorporationInventors: Hawk Yin Pang, Herbert John Kniess

Patent number: 9375691Abstract: Blending particulate and liquid to make slurry for use in oilfield operations is addressed. The blender has an upwardly facing particulate expeller with a flat base, raised hub, and generally radially extending, circumferentially spaced vanes extending upwardly from the base. The vanes extend from leading edges spaced about a vane inner diameter to tips spaced about a vane outer diameter. Adjacent expeller vanes define expeller passageways therebetween. The particulate expeller does not serve as a meaningful liquid impeller and the blender does not act significantly as a pump. The expeller has a several preferred diameter, clearance, height and length dimensions and ratios. Wide, deep expeller inlets and shallow, narrow outlets enhance particulate entry and minimize expeller torque. Vane extensions impart velocity to the particulate upon contact and minimize sensitivity to particulate entry velocity. Maximized circumferential overlap of adjacent vanes reduces liquid back-flow.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2012Date of Patent: June 28, 2016Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Calvin Lynn Stegemoeller, Chad A. Patent number: 8819949Abstract: A line marking assembly for applying a marking a straight line with a marking powder onto a surface is disclosed. The line marking assembly comprises two chambers configured to mount one on each side of a level. Each chamber contains a cord wound on a spool, marking powder and a tensioning assembly that exerts a constant and continuous pull on the cord. The cords from each of the chambers may be combined with a coupler. Moving the coupler back and forth between the chambers coats the cords with marking powder. Placing the assembly onto a surface and snapping the cord marks a straight line on the surface.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Inventors: Keith Gerard Fritsch, Herbert John Peter Goetz, Mark S Payne

Publication number: 20120199216Abstract: A drain or ducting adjustment system may include a plurality of shims to elevate or space a cover from a flange or base portion of the drain or ducting. Each shim may have a recess proximate its top end to receive the cover or a higher shim and engagement means such as a lip or threading to receive the base portion or a lower shim. Shims may be of various heights. Additionally, one or more shims may allow for an angled offset between the recess and lip, in the event that the base portion of the drain or ducting is not parallel to the ultimate substrate height. Preferably, the base of the recess and lip are generally parallel to their respective end surfaces and the recess and lip are generally cylindrical such that adjacent shims may be rotationally adjusted relative to one another to achieve a desired offset angle.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2012Publication date: August 9, 2012Inventor: Herbert John Schramer

Publication number: 20110203094Abstract: A device and method for securely removing a sewer cap from a sewer line that may be under pressure is disclosed. The device comprises a tube adapted to tightly fit onto the end tee of the sewer line that contains the cap and a piston containing a handle configured to fit and for movement inside the tube. A discharge port on the tube is adapted to discharge fluids into a container. The piston has a recess adapted to tightly fit over the square protrusion typically present on sewer line caps. To remove the sewer cap, the recess in the piston is threaded onto the protrusion on sewer line cap. The tube is then threaded over the piston and tightened over the end tee of the sewer line. Turning the handle to loosen the handle allows any discharge to safely drain through the discharge port.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2011Publication date: August 25, 2011Inventors: Patrick Louis Marciniak, Herbert John Peter Goetz, Mark S. Payne

Patent number: 7914286Abstract: A game that teaches principles of dynamic business management by advancing tokens (20) along a work flow path (22) on a playing surface (24) to simulate multiple processes of a fictitious business enterprise over time. The work flow path (22) includes at least three distinct and progressive processing areas (30, 32, 34, 36), each representing a different value-added function of the fictitious business. A constraint zone (38) having a specified token (20) capacity is established in each processing area (30, 32, 34, 36), and all tokens (20) must pass through each constraint zone (38) during the play of the game. The token (20) capacity of at least one of the constraint zones (38) may be changed by the players by adding or subtracting work capacity squares (50, 52) during a round to provoke variations in the rate of token (20) advance along the work flow path (22) to thereby simulate a management decision on a dynamic system over time so that its effects can be observed.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2009Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Inventor: Herbert John Newton Lees
