  • Patent number: 6629806
Abstract: A process for the metal-removing machining of a workpiece, where a disc-shaped external milling cutter is provided having cutting edges positioned on its outer circumference, the workpiece is rotated, and peripheral surfaces of the workpiece are machined with the milling cutter, by rotating the milling cutter to have a cutting speed of at least 180 m/min when roughing and at least 200 m/min when finishing, and a chip thickness of between 0.05-0.5 mm.

  • Patent number: 6322300
Abstract: The problem addressed by the invention is to provide a milling machine which can be used to machine eccentric end faces and peripheral faces and which ensures a short machining time despite its simple design. A milling machine of this king for machining workpieces and with means of clamping eccentric end faces or enveloping surfaces, e.g.

  • Patent number: 6283687
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a device for machining of workpieces (10) like crankshafts or similar components which are rotated about their own axis during machining, at least two mutually independently operating rotary milling tools (15, 16, 21, 22) performing material-removing operations simultaneously at different points on a workpiece. In order to maximize the edge life of the tools used, with special regard to the most uniform wear possible on all the rotary milling tools, it is proposed that the rotation speed of the tools be matched or varied to provide an optimum cutting operation and the rotation speed of the second and any other rotary milling tool be controlled dependently upon the tool rotation speed predetermined by the matching or variation.

  • Patent number: 6048284
Abstract: A pulley which can be driven by the output element of the engine in a motor vehicle to transmit torque to one or more endless belts or chains has a rotary input member, a rotary output member and a damper which yieldably opposes rotation of the input and output members relative to each other about a common axis and is at least partially confined in an annular chamber defined by at least one of the input and output members. The chamber can further receive a friction bearing which operates between the input and output members, as well as a vibration absorbing device. Such device can have a mass which is adjacent a flange of one of the input and output members and one or more energy storing elements acting in the circumferential direction of the pulley.

  • Patent number: 5743688
Abstract: A machine and a process of using the machine for turn-broaching a workpiece to for crankshafts or camshafts. The machine comprises turn-broaching units having peripheral cutters whose cutting surfaces are monitored and automatically adjusted to compensate for wearing. The angular positions of the cutters of a turn-broaching unit may also be offset with respect to one another such that only one cutter is in contact with the surface of the workpiece at each instant.
