  • Patent number: 5174664
Abstract: A matrix printhead having a plurality of electromagnetic drives arranged in a cluster including a plurality of drive elements further having a plurality of reciprocating print needles, wires or styli, includes additionally a fastening structure for each of these needles, wires or styli to the drive elements in that the drive element has a width dimension which is larger than a diameter or a representative diameter dimension for the print needle, wire or stylus so as to accomodate an opening in the fastening area having said width and having a cross sectional contour which matches at least in parts the contour of the periphery of the needle to be inserted, there may be an extra slot and the needle as inserted is brazed or soldered to a opening. The opening is at an angle of between 40 and 60 degrees to the plane of the armature.

  • Patent number: 5009529
Abstract: A matrix pin print head of the hinged clapper armature construction includes several pin systems which, in each case, include a magnetic yoke limb pair (2), an electromagnetic coil (3), a hinged clapper armature (4), and a print pin (1). The multiple pin system further includes an electromagnetic coil support (13), which is produced by way of sintering or precision-casting, and which forms a single-piece component together with a base plate and the magnet yoke limb pairs (2). In a system with a low number of pins such as nine pins, the electromagnetic coil support (13) exhibits radially outwardly individual magnet yoke limbs (2a) and an armature guide, wherein the individual hinged clapper armatures (4) are precisely positioned and without cause for a loss of magnetic energy. In each case, the magnetic yoke limbs are directed toward a pin engagement point (8) or, respectively, to a pin attachment position (8b). The radial inner magnet yokes are formed to a closed, circular, or polygonal ring (17).

  • Patent number: 4674179
Abstract: The armature assembly for matrix print heads having a plurality of magnetic drives for a corresponding plurality of print elements is made by providing an annular armature ring and positioning a disc annulus inside the armature ring in a concentric relation thereto; a resilient arm ring is superimposed upon the disc and armature ring so as to establish concentric placement thereto; the arm ring is fastened to the armature ring and the arms of the arm ring to the disc such that the ring arms extend above an annular gap between the armature ring and the disk; subsequent slots are thermally cutting into the disk to obtain individual armature arms, the slots extending into and through said annulus to divide the annulus into individual arms that remain connected to the armature ring on account of the fastening. The disk may have been cut out from the armature ring.
