  • Publication number: 20070261793
Abstract: A machine is provided having a web tension nulling mechanism that is effective to cancel out web tension-effect forces exerted on machine members, such as rollers, so these forces to not substantially interfere with the position of the machine members during operation of the machine.

  • Publication number: 20070098887
Abstract: A method is provided for applying adhesive to the flutes of a corrugated sheet web. An applicator roll is provided with a uniform thin coating of adhesive by a metering rod. Exposed crests of the flutes are brought into contact with a coating of adhesive that has been applied to a surface of an applicator roll in order to provide a uniform bead of adhesive on the flute crests. The flutes are compressed against the applicator roll surface in a forward direction relative to the direction in which the web is moving adjacent the applicator roll surface. In one embodiment, the applicator roll has a surface linear velocity greater than the speed at which the web is traveling.

  • Publication number: 20060225830
Abstract: A method and apparatus are useful to produce a corrugated product. They can be used to produce a corrugated product at low temperature, such as room temperature. A zero-contact roll is used to support a web of medium material on a cushion of air at a location prior to the web entering the corrugating labyrinth. The web is free to move toward or away from the surface of the zero-contact roll, on the cushion of air, in response to small oscillatory changes in downstream tension demand based on the fluting frequency in the corrugating labyrinth. A mechanism is also provided to precisely control the mean tension in the web prior to entering the corrugating labyrinth at a low value. Thus, mean web tension is precisely controlled and is low, tension oscillations can be damped, and low temperature corrugating can be achieved without significant fracturing in the corrugated web. A single-facer useful to apply a high-solids content adhesive, also desirable for low-temperature corrugating, is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050194088
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a corrugated product are provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a turnbar system the cooperates with a glue machine for applying glue to the exposed flute crests of a single-faced corrugated web traveling therethrough. The turnbar system and glue machine define a web path of the single-faced web having a web path geometry such that after exiting the glue machine, the single-faced web enters a double-facer oriented having the exposed flute crests facing away from the stationary hotplates in the double-facer.

  • Publication number: 20050194103
Abstract: A corrugator glue machine is provided having a web tension nulling mechanism that is effective to cancel out web tension-effect forces exerted on machine members, such as rollers, so these forces to not substantially interfere with the application of glue to the exposed flute crests of a single-faced corrugated web in the glue machine.

  • Patent number: 5500032
Abstract: In a process for the continuous melting down of scrap metal, in particular of bales of scrap metal, which contain residual plastic materials, the scrap metal being fed to a melt-down reactor (1) and the heat required to melt this down being obtained by direct heating from below, using burners that are arranged close to the tapping point, the process is managed in the melt-down reactor (1) as a reducing process; part of the process gases is returned to the melt-down reactor (1) as combustion gas after utilization of the sensible heat and purification; the remaining portion is passed out as output gas. This makes it possible to operate without oversize gas purification systems when melting down scrap metal that contains plastic, and to utilize the pyrolysed substances that are contained in the working material to good effect.

  • Patent number: 5174315
Abstract: Method for cleaning objects with the aid of an aqueous cleaning fluid containing a washing agent, in which the objects are rinsed with an aqueous rinsing fluid after treatment with the cleaning fluid and wherein, to avoid any components having a low boiling point being returned to the cleaning and rinsing fluid as well as to avoid any loss in washing agents, the cleaning fluid is first subjected to membrane filtration, the permeate hereby recovered and containing washing agents is distilled, the concentrate resulting therefrom and containing washing agents is added to the cleaning fluid used in the cleaning process and the distillate is supplied to the rinsing process.
