    Abstract: A system for connecting a household appliance to an external apparatus for the purpose of parameterizing, error diagnosing and remotely maintaining the former by an exchange of electromagnetic radiation signals consisting, on the one hand, of separated sequences of first search codes made up of a plurality of code words differing from each other transmitted to receive an answer signal consisting of a single code word and generated in response to a predetermined number of transmitted first search codes being in conformity with second search codes stored at the device receiving at least a predetermined number of sequences of the first search code.
