  • Publication number: 20080167101
Abstract: A modular straight separator bar for a rotor for a threshing system of an agricultural combine that is mountable on a single mounting lug and interchangeable with a rasp bar at a plurality of locations on the rotor. As a result, more straight separator bars may be mounted towards the front of the rotor providing the threshing system the capability of performing increased separation in the threshing process without interrupting the helical flow pattern of the crop material.

  • Publication number: 20080167100
Abstract: A locking system for attaching a threshing and/or separating element to a mounting lug on a rotor of a threshing system of an agricultural combine, including a single bolt attachment with multiple points of contact between the element and the lug created by a convex portion extending from an inner surface of the threshing and/or separating element cooperatively engaged in a recessed portion of the mounting lug. The locking system resists loading conditions generated when the crop mat engages the element, prevents radially outward movement of the threshing and/or separating element relative to the mounting lug, and reduces the stress on the mounting hardware during harvesting operations.

  • Patent number: 7297053
Abstract: A crop residue chopper for an agricultural combine, including a housing containing a rotor supporting a plurality of elongate chopper knives for rotation therewith, each of which includes at least one longitudinally extending, integral stiffener extending sidewardly therefrom which, during rotation, can generate an air flow for inducting dust and smaller particles of crop residue into the chopper for discharge from the chopper with the larger elements of the crop residue.

  • Patent number: 7186179
Abstract: Adjustable deflector apparatus for transitioning crop residue from an axially arranged threshing system of a combine to a crop residue distribution system is disposed in a position such that at least a portion of a crop residue flow from the threshing system will strike or impinge the deflector and be deflected thereby downwardly and transversely toward the crop residue distribution system. An adjusting mechanism is operable for moving the deflector in relation to an internal side of the combine for adjusting a desired parameter or parameters of the deflected flow.

  • Patent number: 7066810
Abstract: A system and method for positively discharging crop residue from a combine for precisely and consistently delivering crop residue from the threshing and separating area of a combine to the combine's residue handling system or outwardly from the rear of the combine and onto the harvested field below as a windrow. The present invention can include, or operate in cooperation with, a discharge mechanism, such as a conventional discharge beater, which delivers at least some of the crop residue to a conveying mechanism of the system. The system also includes a guide mechanism including a door arrangement configurable in several alternative configurations for receiving and merging and regulating crop residue flow from the discharge mechanism and the conveying mechanism, and directing the merged flow to a desired processing mechanism, such as, but not limited to, a chaff spreader, a straw chopper and/or spreader, etc.

  • Patent number: 6918238
Abstract: An externally installable and removable bearing and shaft assembly for supporting an end of a rotatable member for rotation relative to a support member or structure, which when installed, applies an axial preload force against a shaft of the assembly, for reducing the occurrence of flexure or bending of the shaft due to side loads during the rotation which can lead to fatigue failure including shaft breakage.

  • Patent number: 6640527
Abstract: The mechanism alters the position of a set of auger fingers positioned in front of a feederhouse opening relative to auger fingers on the outer ends of a transverse auger of a header of a combine harvester. A center finger auger shaft is positioned between two outer finger auger shafts. An outer shaft plate having a series of radially placed holes may be adjusted to change the position of a center shaft plate. This changes the position of the center auger finger shaft affixed to the center shaft plate. This permits the auger fingers to be moved either towards or away from the header floor.

  • Patent number: 5186683
Abstract: A stone trap assembly for inhibiting stones, rocks, and the like from passing into a combine threshing area from a feeder mechanism adapted to advance crop material through a housing. The stone trap assembly includes a stone receiving trough and a rotatable beater mechanism arranged in combination relative to each other. The stone trough and beater mechanism conjunctively extend laterally across the width of the feeder mechanism. The feeder mechanism includes a series of spiral flight sections, with each flight section having a helix configuration between opposite ends thereof to enhance performance of the feeder mechanism by lessening cyclic contact of the beater mechanism with the crop material passing therethrough and providing a generally uniform flow of crop material to the threshing area of the combine.
