  • Patent number: 5234137
Abstract: A disc for mounting a valve onto a spray can which is capable of engaging a standard-sized protective cap such that the cap fills all the space between the disc and the top of the spray can regardless of variations in the thickness of the disc or the seal. The disc has a central body portion and an annular groove disposed at the periphery of the central body portion. The bead of the spray can sits within the annular groove. A seal is positioned between the annular groove and the bead. A spacer is positioned in the annular groove such that the spacial relationship between the bead and the annular groove is predetermined, i.e., the distance between the annular groove and the top of the can is a predetermined distance. Consequently, a standard-sized protective cap can be used for spray cans in which the seal thickness and disc thickness vary, wherein the cap fits snugly on the disc and fills the entire space between the disc and the top of the can.

  • Patent number: 5222636
Abstract: A pump sprayer for pharmaceutical or cosmetic products provides for consistent spray regardless of the orientation of the container. A gravity-actuated valve element coacts with a valve seat to close a secondary passage to the pump when the container is in a normal upright position. In an inverted position the valve opens and the pump intakes from the secondary passage which draws from the area of the top of the container, opposite the primary pump dip tube intake at the base of the container. The valve casing which includes the valve seat has an insertion aperture for the valve element, as well as an axial slot to insure communication of the secondary passage with the pump when the container is in the inverted position.

  • Patent number: 4723692
Abstract: A spray valve assembly for an aerosol container comprising a valve housing which can be sealingly fixed into the top of the container, the housing defining a main passage for the throughflow of the contents of the container, a valve stem within the housing forming the main valve, an immersion pipe extending from the main passage in the housing, a secondary passage communicating the container and the main passage in the housing for the throughflow of the contents of the container when the container is inverted, an auxiliary valve disposed between the secondary and main passages, which auxiliary valve is disposed eccentrically within the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 4613061
Abstract: A valve fitment (3) for a two-chamber compressed gas packaging container with product components in an inner and an outer container (1, 2) for mixing thereof in the outer container (1) before discharge of the mixture has a discharge pipe (6) which is sealingly axially displaceably guided in an opening (17) in a cover (7) of the outer container (1), which is smaller than the outside diameter, for simultaneously piercing a wall portion (5) of the inner container (2), and a valve (11, 14) which is actuable to release the mixture.

  • Patent number: 4015752
Abstract: A valve for a pressurized dispenser which includes within a mounting cup, a valve housing and an annular gasket for sealing a discharge passage of a movable valve stem, the gasket having peripheral edge portions which do not extend to contact the valve cup surrounding wall, and a marginal portion between its peripheral edge and the portion clamped between the mounting cup and the valve housing, and which incorporates a clearance space within the cup and beyond the periphery of the gasket to accommodate the marginal portion of the gasket when stretched during the filling of the dispenser so that a flow path is provided to the outside of the housing. The gasket is preferably polygonal in shape, for example hexagonal.

  • Patent number: 4015757
Abstract: A valve for a pressurized dispenser which includes, within a mounting cup, a valve housing and an annular gasket clamped between the cup and the housing for sealing a discharge passage of a movable valve stem, and which incorporates a clearance space in the cup around the outer marginal portion of the gasket to accommodate the marginal portion when the gasket is stretched during the filling of the dispenser to provide a flow path to the outside of the housing, and which has spacers spaced apart around the periphery of the gasket to define the distance between the cup and the housing within which the gasket is clamped, and between which the stretched gasket extends.
