Publication number: 20170349383Abstract: A conveyor system with a diverting conveyor belt crossing and intersecting a main conveyor line. The diverting conveyor belt has rollers on its outer side that rotate freely in the main conveying direction of the line. The downstream edge of the diverting conveyor is selectably tilted between a lowered, untilted position level with the main conveyor line and a raised, tilted position above the level of the main conveyor line. When the diverting belt is untilted and stopped, an article passes over the belt's rollers without being diverted. When the diverting belt is tilted and running, it diverts articles off the side of the conveyor line. In another version the rollers include an electrically conductive or magnetic material. A linear-motor stator under the diverting belt selectively actuates the conductive or magnetic rollers to draw undiverted articles across the belt.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2017Publication date: December 7, 2017Inventors: David Herbert Myers, Christopher J. Gatz

Patent number: 9434547Abstract: An article-diverting modular conveyor belt employs an article mover on a conveyor belt module for selectively moving a conveyed article towards a side of the module. The article mover may be a transversely-extending endless belt for carrying articles across the belt towards a side of the module. Rollers below the conveyor belt are selectively activated to induce movement of the article mover.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2015Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Laitram, L.L.C.Inventors: Angela Longo Marshall, Mark Costanzo, Jason Greenleaf, David Herbert Myers, Matthew John Greer

Publication number: 20160178490Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure include systems and methods for capturing particular biological matter from a sample from an individual. The systems and methods employ an apparatus (such as a container that is a tube or bag) comprising a fluoropolymer coating that is modified to comprise one or more moieties for binding of a desired biological agents when a sample is exposed to the modified fluoropolymer. In particular aspects, the biological matter is a particular type of cell, such as a particular blood or bone marrow cell, and the desired cell is captured by means of an aptamer selected to bind the cell.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2015Publication date: June 23, 2016Inventors: Edouard Civel, Sarah Louise Clark, Herbert Myers Cullis, Natasha Anna Lundgren, Jeffrey Ellis Miripol, Camila A. Garces

Patent number: 9156629Abstract: A sorting conveyor including a diverting conveyor and a bidirectional assist roller to help sort articles over the side of the diverting conveyor. The diverting conveyor includes, in one version, a conveyor belt with diverting rollers selectively actuated to push articles toward a side of the diverting conveyor. The bidirectional assist roller rotates on an axis parallel to the main conveying direction. As articles to be diverted reach the side of the diverting conveyor, the bidirectional roller rotates in a direction to assist articles over the side of the diverting conveyor and the bidirectional roller and onto an exit conveyor. When the diverting rollers are not actuated, the bidirectional roller rotates in the opposite direction to prevent articles from exiting the side of the diverting conveyor. In some instances, the bidirectional roller can be raised above the level of the diverting rollers to further block articles not selected for sorting from exiting over the side and onto the exit conveyor.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2013Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: Laitram, L.L.C.Inventors: Mark Costanzo, David Herbert Myers

Patent number: 4426262Abstract: Platinum and iridium in catalytic electrodes for electrochemical uses is partially replaced with lead ruthenate-tantalum oxide composite. Electrodes are fabricated by first coating a film-forming metal substrate with a platinum-iridium composite undercoat, then overcoating with a composite containing lead, ruthenium, tantalum, platinum, iridium and oxygen. The most preferred anodes have a titanium substrate initially coated with approximately at least 2 gm/m.sup.2 of 70:30 .sup.w /o Pt:Ir composite, followed by about 20 gm/m.sup.2 of a composite having the nominal composition of 22.2.sup.w /o Pb.sub.2 Ru.sub.2 O.sub.6 ; 66.6 .sup.w /o Ta.sub.2 O.sub.5 ; 7.9 .sup.w /o Pt and 3.4 .sup.w /o Ir. The outer layer of the prepared anode contains from about 10 to about 16 .sup.w /o lead, from about 40 to about 65 .sup.w /o tantalum, from about 5 to about 7.5 .sup.w /o ruthenium, from about 6.0 to about 10 .sup.w /o platinum, from about 2.5 to about 5 .sup.w /o iridium, and from about 10 to about 20 .sup.w /o oxygen.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1982Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Assignee: Engelhard CorporationInventors: Robert C. Langley, Herbert Myers
