Abstract: An asphalt paver is illustrated having a hopper carried by a rigid longitudinal frame upon which is mounted a transversely oscillatable frame carrying wheels intermediate the hopper and a rearwardly positioned screed.

Abstract: Steering apparatus and method is illustrated for a paving vehicle having variable displacement hydrostatic pumps supplying power to hydraulic motors on each side of the vehicle with controls for the pumps varying the speed of fixed directional traction means located on respective sides of the vehicle.

Abstract: A self-propelled vault carrying vehicle having a pair of spaced opposed side frames for straddling a vault and a bridge frame extending between upper portions of the side frames wherein a separate drive is provided for a pair of driven wheels on each side of the frame and control for controlling the operation of the driven wheels independently of one another to provide for highly effective tractive steering and a high degree of maneuverability. A powered lift is carried on the bridge frame for raising and lowering the vault with the ends and bottom of the vehicle frame being open to provide unobstructed vertical movement of the vault with respect to the frame.

Abstract: A unitary flight chain assembly for a paver is illustrated as having mounting structure for removably positioning same upon a support structure carried beneath the hopper of the paver, and removable covers are provided to facilitate lifting the flight chain assembly out of the paver and for replacement thereof.

Abstract: A paver attachment is illustrated for connecting a paver to a dump truck and the like having an elongated longitudinally disposed arm assembly carried on one end by the paver for raising and lowering the free end thereof to which is attached securement means for engagement with the dump truck adjacent the transmission to provide a fixed distance therebetween and to permit independent maneuvering of the paver as around curves.
