  • Patent number: 8316297
Abstract: A method for providing comprehensive documentation information of complex machines and systems, in particular an injection molding machine is disclosed. Each of the machine components has a storage device that stores information specific for the machine component; in addition, an individual identification is assigned to each of the machine parts. An overall documentation of the machine is generated by combining the component-specific information from a first documentation memory and the part-specific information from a second documentation memory. The overall documentation is displayed on an output device to allow an operator to determine an up-to-date machine configuration and machine state and to intervene in operation and maintenance of the machine.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 20, 2012
    Assignee: KraussMaffei GmbH

  • Patent number: 7186111
Abstract: A hybrid injection unit for an injection molding machine includes a plasticizing screw having a shaft and constructed for rotation and axial displacement. Operatively connected to the shaft is a first electric motor for rotating the plasticizing screw, and a second electric motor for axial displacement of the plasticizing screw. A cost-efficient construction of the second electric motor and reduced stress of the linkage between this electric motor and the shaft is realized by providing at least one piston and cylinder unit in fluid communication with a pressure source for support of the second electric motor in injection direction, and a traverse acted upon by one end of the piston and cylinder unit and rotatably supporting the shaft of the plasticizing shaft. The traverse acts upon the shaft between a force introduction point of the second electric motor into the shaft, on one hand, and the plasticizing screw, on the other hand.

  • Patent number: 7121821
Abstract: A device for heating parisons made of a thermoplastic material and having a supporting ring for blow molding hollow bodies, having a conveyor means, a plurality of holding means which are arranged on the conveyor means and grip the head area of the parisons between the supporting ring and the mouth and radiant heaters arranged on the path of movement of the parisons carried by the holding means, a shield supported by the conveying means being assigned to each holding mandrel in the form of a cover plate which is located at the height of the supporting ring and has a borehole to receive the supporting ring. Furthermore, there is also a cooling device, which acts directly on the exposed head area. This permits optimum protection of the head area of the parisons, which is not to be shaped or deformed, to prevent unacceptable heating.

  • Patent number: 6599569
Abstract: A coated plastic container provides for low permeability to gases and vapors. A method and system for coating plastic containers includes applying a thin inorganic oxide layer to the external surface of the containers with plasma-assisted vacuum vapor deposition. For example, the coating can include silica which is bonded to the external surface of the container. This coating is flexible and can be applied regardless of the container's internal pressure or lack thereof. The coating firmly adheres to the container and possess an enhanced gas barrier effect after pressurization even when the coating is scratched, fractured, flexed and/or stretched. Moreover, this gas barrier enhancement will be substantially unaffected by filling of the container. A method of recycling coated plastic containers and a method and system for packaging a beverage using the coated containers are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6354427
Abstract: A device for introducing containers into a treatment space and for removing the containers from said treatment space having at least one rotatable sluice wheel provided on the periphery with sluice chambers that are open toward the outside, the sluice wheel being provided with grippers that can be operated directly by the containers or indirectly by a control device, for securing the containers temporarily in the sluice chambers, preferably by suspending the containers without allowing them to come in contact with the chamber walls and without providing any bottom support. A trouble-free conveyance of the containers with a very high output is possible without damaging the containers, even when the containers are very susceptible to tilting.

  • Patent number: 5811141
Abstract: An injection molding machine has a pair of C-shaped tension members interconnecting the fixed bracing plates at location above the axis of force action in the mold closing and injection operations. The mold closing unit is mounted on one of these plates and a mold part on the other plate while the mold closing unit acts on the movable mold part. According to the invention, the fixed plates are also interconnected by lower tension members which can be C-shaped or can be tension rods so that access to the space between the mold parts remains available, the upper and lower tension members being matched as to elongation under the generation of the mold closing and injection forces.

  • Patent number: 5540495
Abstract: The extruder screw drive has a first and a second motor, a screw mechanism connected to the first motor and to the extruder screw for translating it in the extrusion cylinder, and a slide mechanism connected to the second motor and to the extruder screw for rotating it in the extrusion cylinder. The screw mechanism and the slide mechanism are coaxial and partially fit into one another to provide an axially compact arrangement. The motors can be hollow shaft electric motors axially aligned together, and pressure regulated hydraulic axial force can be added to the extruder screw during plasticating as it retracts due to increased volume of plastic at an output end of the extrusion cylinder.
