  • Patent number: 9597528
Abstract: Disclosed is an applicator or handpiece configured to apply treatment energy to a segment of skin located in a tissue or skin treatment plane. The treatment energy could be RF energy, applied by a pair of bipolar RF electrodes or optical energy. The applicator includes an optical system configured to form a rectangular spot and homogenize the optical energy distribution.

  • Publication number: 20160045265
Abstract: A method of treating mammalian tissue generates a first output beam of laser radiation of about 755 nm using an alexandrite laser. The first output beam is directed to a delivery device for directing a system output beam of laser radiation to a target region of mammalian tissue for non-therapeutic hair removal or tattoo removal. A second solid-state laser mounted on a translation stage is positioned into the path of the first output beam. The second output beam is directed to the delivery device for directing the target output beam to the target region of mammalian tissue for hair removal or tattoo removal, wherein long-pulse alexandrite and neodymium lasers are used for hair removal, and q-switched versions of these lasers are used for tattoo removal.

  • Publication number: 20090227995
Abstract: Described are laser systems for treating skin. The system includes a first solid-state laser for producing a first output beam, a second solid state laser for producing a second output beam, and a delivery device for directing the second output beam to a target region of skin. The second solid state is adapted to receive a first part of the first output beam and generate excitation in a rare-earth doped gain medium to produce the second output beam. The second output beam is for treating the skin.
