  • Patent number: 4435660
Abstract: In order to increase the power output of a magneto generator without causing additional undesired sparks to be generated in the ignition system, a plurality of permanent magnets each having associated pole pieces is arranged around the periphery of a magnet wheel. The ignition armature and at least one additional armature are fixedly mounted so that, during rotation of the wheel, the pole pieces interact with the legs of an E-shaped core in each of the armatures. However, the polarity of the permanent magnets is such that only the first of these magnets causes the generation of a spark in the ignition system. The polarity of the additional permanent magnets is such that no spark is induced when they pass by the ignition armature during rotation of the wheel. Since all three magnets, regardless of the polarity, are active in inducing AC voltages in the auxiliary armature windings, the power output of the latter is increased.

  • Patent number: 4390804
Abstract: A magneto generator includes a magnet wheel 11 which carries a magnetic system. The magnetic system consists of a plurality of claw shaped pole pieces (12,13) which form extensions of two pole plates (14,15). A plate shaped permanent magnet 16 is positioned between the pole plates in a direction perpendicular to the pole wheel axis. The pole pieces arranged along the periphery of the magnet wheel are extensions of two pole plates each of which abuts one of the pole faces of the plate shaped permanent magnet. At least one of the pole plates has an extension which compensates for the unbalance of weight caused by the pole piece extensions.

  • Patent number: 3971977
Abstract: To supply electrical power to small motor vehicles such as motorcycles, motor scooters, snow-mobiles and the like, which do not have a battery, to energize separate loads such as headlights and tail-lights, a permanent magnet field generator having a plurality of armature windings has loads, for example the main headlight connected, in series with a control switch, across all the armature power supply windings; one of those power supply windings has, additionally, the tail-light connected in series therewith, and in advance of the switch connection, so that upon burn-out of the main load (for example the headlight) no excess voltage peaks will develop which also destroy the other load, for example the tail-light.
