  • Patent number: 4246899
Abstract: A drainage system for a collection of body fluids is disclosed. The drainage system includes an elongated tubular member and an adapter member. The tubular member defines a drainage lumen, and drainage ports along its distal portion. The adapter member is sealed to the proximal portion of the tubular member. A drainage passageway within the adapter member communicates with the drainage lumen. A plug is sealed to an enlargement along the passageway. The plug is piercable by a needle-like drainage member to communicate a disposable evacuated container with the drainage lumen.

  • Patent number: 4057731
Abstract: An improved sterile container is disclosed for receiving and enclosing an unsterile x-ray cassette holder so as to avoid contamination of a sterile operative field by the unsterile x-ray cassette holder when the cassette holder is being used to take x-rays during surgery in a sterile operative field. The improved container includes sterile fastening means for properly positioning the x-ray cassette holder with respect to the patient to be x-rayed so as to obtain optimal x-ray views without unnecessarily exposing any operating room personnel to the x-rays and so as to minimize the chances that the x-ray cassette holder will slip or otherwise move, with respect to the patient, during the time the x-rays are being taken.

  • Patent number: 3993080
Abstract: A drainage tubing for wounds, or body cavities, is described. The tubing is placed and retained in the wound site in an improved manner by means of an inflatable balloon positioned in the intact, healthy tissue adjacent the patient's skin, or in the body cavity adjacent a wall thereof. The drainage tubing may also have a second, collapsible bulb portion for aseptic back-flushing of the placement site while the tubing lumen is sealed from the exterior. The specific construction enables a technician to insert the tubing when used in a wound site either from within or without the placement site using an awl to penetrate the exterior tissue adjacent the site.
