  • Patent number: 5021158
Abstract: Process and apparatus for the separation of mixtures of substances by means of centrifugal forces, particularly for the filtration and/or sedimentation of solids from suspensions, wherein the material mixture is rotated in a cake-forming chamber until a cake of solid particles is formed. The resulting cake may thereafter be washed with a wash liquid, centrifuged and discharged from the cake-forming chamber. Discharge from the cake-forming chamber results in rearrangement of the solid particles of the cake. The cake of the rearranged particles is transferred to at least one further processing chamber and dried by centrifugation before being discharged from the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4784634
Abstract: A solid bowl centrifuge for dewatering sludge exhibiting a conical solid bowl and an inner rotor part which revolving at different speeds and has apparatus for axially transporting solid components for improved separating and reduced energy consumption. The sludge is introduced at a tapered end and solid components are discharge at an expanded end. Introduction of sludge is effected through a radial inlet channel(s). Surface elements are attached to the inner rotor by holder arms and are located at a slight distance from the inner wall of the solid bowl drum. A surface element free axial passage channel is defined between the inner rotor wall and the solid bowl drum extending at least 50% of the radial distance between the rotor wall and the drum. A baffle plate is mounted on the inner rotor at the wide end of the drum leaving an annular gap or passage between a compacting space and a sediment discharge which exhibits a radially inwardly directed sediment outlet channel(s).

  • Patent number: 4691448
Abstract: Agitator elements are provided in an apparatus and a process for the transport of heat and material between finely grained solid particles and a flow of carrier gas in a rotating fluid bed in order to prevent settling of coarse particles or agglomerates. The agitator elements are immersed into the fluid bed and move at a velocity different from that of the revolving fluid bed.

  • Patent number: 4253961
Abstract: A vibratory centrifuge for the dewatering of coal sludge, washed small coal or slack which comprises a revolvable conical screen which has a diameter that increases towards its discharge end. The conical screen is vibratable in an axial direction and includes radial steps each having a height of at least 20 mm to rearrangement or loosen the material in the zone of each step.

  • Patent number: 4130479
Abstract: A centrifuge sieve has a support drum rotatable about an axis, a pair of axially spaced rings secured in the drum and centered on the axis, and an array of like sieve bars having radially inner surfaces defining a body of revolution centered on the axis. The bars each have opposite ends each in turn having two formations radially outside the body. One of these formations engages over and radially inside the respective ring and the other formation engages radially outside and under the ring. Thus the rings lie outside the body and underneath lateral projections serving circumferentially to space adjacent bars apart. The upper surfaces of the lateral spacing projections lie below the radial inner surfaces of the bars and at least one end of each bar is chamfered to reduce the change of material catching on the bar.
