  • Patent number: 5575252
Abstract: This invention relates to a reciprocating internal combustion engine having a cylinder crankcase in which a crankshaft is rotatably supported, to which crankshaft there is flexibly joined at least one connecting rod having a piston guided in a cylinder liner, the crankcase having fittings of an oil circulation system and various attached parts in a number independent of the number of cylinders. The crankcases with various numbers of cylinders can be cast, machined and assembled at the lowest possible cost because groups of fittings and attached parts have spacings to one of the two ends of the various cylinder crankcases (1) that remain constant.

  • Patent number: 4834029
Abstract: A cooling circuit (5) for an internal combustion engine in which a throttle (2) is provided upstream of a heat exchanger (10, 11). The throttle (2) equalizes the oil pressure in the internal combustion engine in front of the heat exchangers and insures that this occurs almost independently of the temperature of the oil. By this provision, the heat exchangers can be fabricated with the least expense since the danger of bursting is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4672923
Abstract: Each cylinder of a liquid cooled in-line internal combustion engine includes a cylinder pipe surrounded by an annular cooling chamber. The cooling chambers are interconnected in series by crossover passages between adjacent cylinder pipes and the cooling chambers have a greater cross sectional flow area on one side of the longitudinal central plane of the engine than on the other side. This cross sectional flow area relationship is reversed from cylinder to cylinder to thereby cause a meandering course of flow for a portion of the coolant thereby assuring adequate flow around the entire surface of the cylinder pipe and good flushing of the crossover passages between the cylinder pipes.

  • Patent number: 4497287
Abstract: The spatially curved oscillator tubes are closely seated on the cylinder head and are partially integrated in that wall of a common intake housing which faces the cylinder head, and are completed by shell halves. The intake system preferably includes injection molded synthetic material, and is fastened on the cylinder head by an aluminum fastening rail or strip, or includes reinforced synthetic material, and is fastened directly on the cylinder head. An air-filter element can be installed as a part of the intake housing.

  • Patent number: 4348990
Abstract: A regulation apparatus for determining the flow of fluid to a hyraulically-operated cooling fan of an air-cooled internal combustion engine includes an electromagnetic valve connected in the fluid line to the cooling fan, a control unit which sends a signal to the electromagnetic valve to control its operation, and multiple sensor elements which are positioned in or near the engine to detect the various parameters which affect its operation, the sensor elements sending electrical input signals to the control unit.

  • Patent number: 4295457
Abstract: A crankcase ventilating device for reciprocating piston internal combustion engines, in which a connecting line between the crankcase and the intake conduit is controlled by a control valve including a spring-loaded control piston, which piston is axially displaceable and has one of its end faces adapted to be actuated upon by the pressure in the crankcase whereas its other end face is adapted to be actuated upon an ambient pressure. The control piston is acted upon by the ambient pressure through a throttle opening ahead of which, when looking in the direction of flow of ambient air through the throttle opening to the control piston, there is arranged a separating chamber having an inlet opening communicating with ambient air.

  • Patent number: 4233854
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for mounting a piston compressor attached as an auxiliary machine to an internal combustion engine which piston compressor has an open crank assembly and a gear wheel on an extended crankshaft for installation in, and cooperation with, the gear transmission system of the internal combustion engine and a mounting flange surface portion below the cylinder. Between the flange surface portion of the piston compressor and the transmission housing for the internal combustion engine there is provided an intermediate flange member the flange face of which is directed towards the transmission housing, is axis-parallel to the crank circle cylindrically arched, and is attachable to be radially movable in the circumferential direction of the arcuate portion on a matching concave surface portion of the transmission housing.

  • Patent number: 4217870
Abstract: A venting valve for a crankcase of a reciprocable piston internal combustion engine with a valve housing which is divided into three chambers by way of a movable wall and a hollow cylindrical valve member which is sealingly connected to the movable wall. The first one of these three chambers is arranged for communication with the surrounding or environment whereas the second chamber has a connection for communication with the crankcase, and the third chamber, which includes the inner chamber of the valve member, has a connection for communication with a suction conduit. The valve member in combination with its valve seat controls an opening between the second and third chambers. The connection for communication with the suction conduit forms the inner valve housing-connected support for the movable wall and is axially aligned with the valve member, and the connection for communication with the crankcase is located opposite the connection to the suction conduit and coaxially surrounds the valve member.
