  • Patent number: 4598781
Abstract: A load cell having a flexure connector that provides connection between the load beam of the load cell and the sensing beam. The structure has a low profile and provides an adjusting feature that compensates for the variations in resistance of the load cell strain gages.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 25, 1984
Date of Patent: July 8, 1986
    Assignee: Pitney Bowes Inc.
    Inventor: Herbert Tramposch
  • Patent number: 4561512
Abstract: A unitary load cell having an assembled connector that provides connection between the load beam of the load cell and the sensing beam. The structure allows ease of fabrication as well as subjecting the load cell to a compressive force as opposed to subjecting it to tension.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4485881
Abstract: A load cell for measuring forces applied thereto including an adjusting mechanism for off center load adjustment is disclosed. The load cell comprises a substantially parallelogram structure having a moving section on one side and a fixed section on the opposite side. Upper and lower strips extend between and connect the fixed and moving sections. Flexjoints are located at approximately the juncture of each of the strips and the sections, the flexjoints being adapted to flex in response to the force exerted thereon and facilitate transmission of the force to the transducer portion of the load cell. An adjusting mechanism for off center load adjustment is positioned on the load cell and includes both a vertical and horizontal adjusting mechanism that are adapted to alter the position of a first flexjoint adjacent to the adjusting mechanism relative to the position of a second flexjoint.

  • Patent number: 4057011
Abstract: A printing apparatus for the printing of OCR and bar codes on identification cards, credit cards and the like. The card is conveyed intermediate a plurality of selectively operable print bars and pressure bars. The pressure bars are held in position by biasing means selected to provide regulated backing pressure to the credit card to achieve controlled printing pressure. This combination results in high quality OCR and bar code print out.

  • Patent number: 3986593
Abstract: A snap-action fastener assembly is disclosed, which provides ease of assembly and disassembly of a print disc to and from a serial printer. The snap-action fastener assembly comprises a necked shaft connected to the serial printer, and a pair of flexing jaws connected to the print disc. When pressure is applied about the jaws, they are caused to widen so as to easily slip over the shaft. When the pressure is released, the jaws snap back to a locked position. When the jaws are positioned about the necked section of the shaft in a pressure released condition, the print disc will be securely locked upon the shaft.

  • Patent number: 3935937
Abstract: A composite of several materials constructed to form a printing disc, of the type used in high speed printers. The printing disc is manufactured in separate stages in order to achieve characteristics within the final assembly that are necessary for high speed quality printing. The assembled printing disc comprises a disc shaped member of flexible plastic. The hub of the disc has radially extending arms which each unite with a print head character composed of a thin layer of powdered metal or plastic zinc plated with a layer of metal.

  • Patent number: RE29792
Abstract: Ticket reading apparatus is disclosed having a moving grooved belt for transporting tickets fed singly thereto by separator rollers controlled by a clutch and brake in relation to information recording speed. Reading is accomplished by at least two detectors spaced to read information along the length of the ticket regardless of end-for-end orientation. Each detector comprises a light source and photocell detector having a narrow rhombic aperture for optimum reading of tickets oriented longitudinally on the belt or only slightly skewed. There is also provided a ticket routing gate assembly operated by a switch enabled by the information recorder to divert tickets to one of two routes and to stack tickets which have not been properly read.
