  • Publication number: 20220380865
Abstract: A vanadium recovery process (10), the process comprising: (i) passing an ore or concentrate (12) containing vanadium, titanium and iron to a reduction step (18) forming a reduced ore or concentrate; (ii) passing the reduced ore or concentrate to a ferric leach step (22) to produce a ferric leachate (26) containing iron and a ferric leach residue (30) containing vanadium; (iii) passing the ferric leachate (26) to a ferric oxidation step (28) producing an iron product (68); (iv) passing the ferric leach residue (30) to an acid leach step (32) producing an acid leachate (44) containing vanadium and an acid leach residue (36) containing titanium; (v) Passing the acid leachate (44) to a vanadium recovery step (46, 48) from which a vanadium product is produced; and (vi) Passing the acid leach residue (36) to a titanium pigment production process (42) whereby a titanium dioxide pigment is produced.

  • Patent number: 10724119
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the separation of vanadium in the form of vanadium oxide, iron-vanadium-oxide, or iron-vanadium from solutions containing both dissolved iron and dissolved vanadium, wherein an aqueous solution containing dissolved iron and vanadium in a molar iron-to-vanadium ratio of above 1:1, preferably above 1:1 and up to 10000:1, more preferably between 5:1 and 1000:1, even more preferably between 5:1 and 100:1, and most preferably between 10:1 and 50:1 and optionally also other elements is oxidized in an oxidation step with a gaseous oxidation media, and wherein the amount of acid in the aqueous solution is kept below the stoichiometric amount of acid required during bivalent iron oxidation and the precipitate thus formed is removed from the solution.

  • Publication number: 20140308182
Abstract: A method for concentrating metal chlorides in and separating same from an iron(III) chloride-containing hydrochloric acid solution is described, wherein iron is precipitated from the solution as iron oxide, preferably haematite and filtered off in a filtration device, and the now further concentrated non-hydrolysable metal chlorides are removed from at least a part of the hydrochloric acid filtrate.
