Publication number: 20240102251Abstract: A tamping assembly for tamping sleepers of a track has a tamping unit with tamping tools. The tamping tools are located opposite one another, are mounted on a height-adjustable tool support, and, by way of drives, can be caused to vibrate and can be fed relative to each other. Each tamping tool includes a pivot lever, which can be rotated about a feed axis, and an inner and an outer tamping pick retainer. Each tamping pick retainer can be laterally pivoted relative to the pivot lever. The outer tamping pick retainer can be pivoted about a first pivot axis and the inner tamping pick retainer can be pivoted about a second pivot axis. The second pivot axis is arranged at an offset to the first pivot axis. Thus, it is no longer necessary to adjacently arrange elements for pivoting the tamping pick retainers.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2020Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Herbert Woergoetter, Andreas Poeschl, Nikolaus Matzinger

Patent number: 11718963Abstract: A machine for profiling and distributing ballast of a track, having a frame supported on on-track undercarriages and lateral ballast pick-up devices which are adjustably fastened to the frame, wherein each ballast pick-up device is actuated by a conveyor drive. In this, the machine is designed in such a way that, in an inoperative position, the upper contours of the machine are arranged below a delimiting plane which slopes downward in the working direction and extends through a field of vision of a driver's cabin of a rail vehicle to be coupled to the machine at the rear end thereof. Thus, the machine can be employed as a leading wagon of the rail vehicle, wherein sufficient visibility from the driver's cabin to the track is ensured.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2018Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Assignee: Plasser & Theurer Export von Bahnbaumaschinen GmbHInventors: Johannes Max-Theurer, Manfred Brunninger, Herbert Woergoetter

Patent number: 8240253Abstract: The compression of ballast for a rail track takes place after two-stage cleaning by a cleaning machine. For this purpose, cleaned ballast is dispensed and a first ballast layer is thereby formed. The rail track which is laid on the first ballast layer has lateral oscillations imparted to it by a front stabilization unit, and the first ballast layer is thereby compressed. The formation of a second ballast layer takes place by a second chute, which second ballast layer is subsequently compressed by a rear stabilization unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2008Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Assignee: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen-Industriegesellschaft mbHInventors: Josef Theurer, Herbert Wörgötter

Patent number: 7181851Abstract: In a method of tracing a track geometry immediately ahead of a ballast pick-up device of a cleaning machine in a working direction, a first and a second measuring chord are guided on the track by a respective front and rear end point. A versine measured by a first versine sensor of the first measuring chord is stored, in connection with a distance measurement, for registering the rear end point of the first measuring chord as a desired position with respect to a local track point. After the rear end point of the second measuring chord has reached the local track point, the rear end point is displaced until a measurement value corresponding to the stored versine is reached by a second versine sensor, and thus the desired position has been attained.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2005Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen Gesellschaft mbHInventors: Josef Theurer, Bernhard Lichtberger, Herbert Wörgötter
