  • Publication number: 20110014700
Abstract: A cell or tissue sample from a donor is stored in bank wherein the donor can initially determine the sample status to (a) exclusively retain, (b) make public, or (c) optionally make public his cells or tissue. Where the donor opts for optional public storage, the donor may in response to a third party request convert the optional public storage status to public status or private status top thereby share or exclusively retain his cells or tissue. Most preferably, depending on the initial and/or subsequent choice by the donor, an incentive or disincentive is provided.

  • Publication number: 20080171022
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided to facilitate treatment for a neoplastic disease include providing information of stem cells that can be isolated from an individual prior to diagnosis with a neoplastic disease; processing and storing the stem cells, such as cord blood or bone marrow stem cells, in a format suitable for transfusion; providing information that treatment of the individual after diagnosis with the neoplastic disease includes bone marrow ablation in addition to at least one of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy; and releasing the stem cells for administration to the individual to repopulate the bone marrow after ablation.

  • Publication number: 20060110375
Abstract: A method for producing cell lines or individual organs, differentiable donor cells being supplied to a morula or blastocyst which is cultivated under conditions that ensure a further development of the morula or blastocyst in stages in which newly formed cell lines having a higher degree of differentiation occur, as well as isolation of the cell lines or further differentiation of the cell lines into organs. The method according to the present invention is distinguished in that the cells of the morula or the internal cell mass of the blastocyst have a restricted survivability in comparison to the particular wild type or their survivability is reduced through suitable cultivation conditions, and the donor cells supplied to the morula or blastocyst have varying degrees of differentiation. A significantly shortened cultivation period of the donor cells may thus be achieved in comparison to typical methods, through which the provision of natural stem cells is favored, and perhaps made possible for the first time.

  • Publication number: 20050163827
Abstract: A delivery system for the transdermal administration of active ingredients in the veterinary and human medical fields, which has a cover layer (1) and is provided with an adhesive (2) for skin adhesion, the cover layer (1) being provided with a resealable filling point (4, 8) for introducing the active ingredient through the cover layer (1). The resealable filling point (4, 8) is formed in this case by a valve (4), preferably a Luer connector (4) integrated into the cover layer (1), or by a self-sealing strip (8) made of rubber and/or mixtures of rubbers, which is integrated into the cover layer (1) or attached to the cover layer (1).

  • Patent number: 4271112
Abstract: Process for producing a high-strength, rotationally-symmetrical component by appending short fibers of glass, carbon or aramid in an organic solvent, and depositing the fiber material in a rotating sieve-like receptacle through a radially movable nozzle. The produced preform is impregnated with a matrix of resin and hardener and pressed into its final shape.

  • Patent number: 4218273
Abstract: A structural component is made by providing a main body and applying fibre material to the body so as to adjust the coefficient of thermal expansion and/or the modulus of elasticity of the main body. If the main body is made by molding, the fibre material may be embedded in the main body while the molding material is still soft. The fibre material may be loose long fibres adhesively secured to the main body. The fibre material may be a layer having a fibre orientation arranged in the direction in which stress is experienced by the structural component and/or the direction in which expansion of the structural component is to be resisted. Several layers of fibre material may be applied to the main body with the fibre orientation of different layers being in different directions.

  • Patent number: 4008000
Abstract: A rotor wheel including a hub in the form of a thin-walled shell. Rotor blades are arranged in an annular pattern around the axis of the hub, each blade having at least one blade root formed with a hole. A pin extends through the hole in each blade root, and at least one retaining ring coaxial with the hub axis surrounds all the pins and absorbs radial forces produced by the blades on the pins when the rotor wheel rotates. The retaining rings and blades are fixed against axial and circumferential movement with respect to the hub. A segment between each pin and retaining ring distributes the forces of the pin to the retaining ring. The pins are mounted for radial movement with respect to the hub, and one of the mounting parts for said pins may be detachable from the hub. The hub may be dish shaped, and the pins secured at only one end to the peripheral wall of the hub, that wall having axial slots so that it may expand radially.
