  • Patent number: 4218838
Abstract: A carrier for holding an identification strip and adapted to be mounted on one edge of a register means. A first wall is affixed to a common wall to define a pocket in which the identification strip is received. A second wall is affixed to the common wall to define a second pocket. A plurality of signal means are disposed within the second pocket. Each of the signal means is selectively movable to be brought adjacent to and away from a respective portion of the identification strip. In one embodiment, a signal means retaining member having a plurality of windows is disposed within the second pocket so that the windows receive handle means which protrude from each of the plurality of signal means. The carrier is mounted to an edge of the register means by a pair of clamping legs extending from the common wall.

  • Patent number: 4191484
Abstract: A document file is disclosed having a quick release clamping mechanism. The mechanism includes a tube of resilient and flexible plastic having a central portion anchored in the file and two end portions onto which documents with punched holes can be threaded. The mechanism includes a clamping plate also to be threaded onto the two end portions and having clamping tongues under which the free end portions of the tube can be wedged after passing through holes in the clamping plate. Each clamping tongue has a cam surface to improve the wedging action it imparts to the end portions of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4178048
Abstract: A curved guide for paternoster-type document carriers of the type wherein at least one carrier is connected by a support arm rotatably articulated on each front side to an endlessly moving chain, said carrier being conducted by means of a bent lever attached to the front side of each carrier in an inverted V-shaped position with the aid of guide rollers provided at the lever ends and running in slotted guideways which intersect at the two deflection points, wherein the improvement comprises a pair of pivotally mounted and automatically settable or reversible point levers at the guideway intersection. The point levers close the respective entrance and exit of one slotted guideway from the other slotted guideway with the sides of the point levers forming a continuous slotted guideway bridging the entrance and exit of the other slotted guideway. The point levers are coupled by an endless chain.

  • Patent number: 4147257
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for retaining lamellar material in stacked form. The device includes a sectional rail with a J-shaped cross section, which rail forms the main body of the device. The retaining action of the device is provided by a clamping rail with an L-shaped cross section. In the vicinity of its apex, the L-shaped clamping rail is pivotally mounted at the end of the shorter leg of the J-shaped sectional rail so that the longer legs of the two rails are in opposed, spaced relationship with the shorter leg of the L-shaped rail extending therebetween. An actuating member is coupled to the shorter leg of the L-shaped clamping rail and includes a threaded shaft which extends through a hole in the arcuate or web portion of the J-shaped sectional rail. The threaded shaft is capped with a wing nut which permits adjustment of the device. In operation, the stack of lamellar material is inserted between the longer legs of the two rails and the wing nut is screwed down onto the threaded shaft.
